Friday Finds

Is it too early for the C word? Christmas Reading ~ Friday Finds plus Book Blogger Hop

Hello Avid Readers,

Today is Friday so it’s time for another Friday Finds post. I have found some great reviews around the blogosphere that I want to share with you this week.

I am enjoying being part of the weekly  Book Blogger Hop meme too, hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict, so I’m doing it again today and my answer to this week’s question is at the bottom of this post.

If you are one of my lovely new followers let me just take a moment to explain what my Friday Finds posts are all about. I like to read, my favourite genre is paranormal romance but I’ve also been known to curl up with the odd urban fantasy or paranormal cozy mysteries too. But it’s a big wide literary world out there and I decided back in January that you, my dear followers, might be interested in the reviews about books from other genres to help you find your next favourite book. Ta!Da! My weekly Friday Finds post was born.

So, here are some book reviews that my fellow book bloggers have enjoyed reading (in no particular order).

Betrothed by Christmas: A Duet of by Jess Michaels & Elizabeth Essex from Wonderfully Weird Book Reviews

Rebecca is an avid reader who has an insatiable appetite for new books and giving her opinion. She loves any books where romance is a main theme from YA to erotica, and everything in between. This duet of historical Christmas themed romance novellas kept her entertained.

The Twelve Clues of Christmas by Rhys Bowen from The Bent Bookworm

Liz is a self-confessed girl with a book obsession, a caffeine problem and an adrenaline addiction. She reads and reviews across almost all genres, but she has a special soft spot for YA and children’s lit which aren’t my preferred genres but I really like her style of reviews. This cozy historical mystery rekindled Lizzy’s love for the series and she enjoyed that “there was a real mystery in this one” that kept her guessing until the end.

Four Christmases and a Secret by Zara Stoneley from Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews

Christie and Danielle are very passionate about the books they read and want to share that passion with everyone who visits their highly popular blog. They read pretty much anything that interests them and share their reviews as well as taking part in lots of book tours, new release blitz and cover reveals. Christie, really enjoyed this one and gave it 5 sparkling stars.

And my final review this week is from a blog I’ve been following for a very long time but just realised that I haven’t featured on Friday Finds before. Shocking, I know! 😉

Someone To Trust by Mary Balogh from Books, Movies, Reviews. Oh My!

Stormi is the owner of the blog and loves reading YA, Middle Grade, paranormal, urban fantasy, , action, thrillers, suspense, horror and crime. A few years ago she took on another reviewer, Kathy who loves historical fiction, action thrillers, mysteries, suspense novels, crime, literary fiction, paranormal, fantasy of all kinds, romance, erotic and some YA and Middle Grade. So between the two of them they cover a wide range of genres. Kathy really enjoyed this historical romance novel she borrowed from the library.

Now on to the Book Blogger Hop meme which is hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict. A question is posted each week, you answer the question and visit others blogs to see what their answers are. Easy!

So this week’s question is:

Do you think that overall work morale would be improved by having a “book lunch”, sponsored by the company, at least once a month, or perhaps once a week? (Participation would be voluntary.)

(submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

We did something similar a few years back in a school I worked in. It was successful for a month or so but then, like most things, fizzled out due to lack of enthusiasm.

So, that’s my picks for this week. I hope you find a moment or two to click at least one of these reviews yourself – who knows you may just find your next favourite author!

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this post. I hope you have a good weekend and manage to read (or listen to) a great story.

Happy Reading!

About Me

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog -

  2. I don’t think its too early 😀 I’ve been looking at some christmas reads this week myself 😀

  3. A book lunch once a week would be so awesome 🙂 but that’s only provided people cared for it. Because most people don’t care for reading too much 🙁

  4. I found this very interesting Friday post thanks
