A New Addition To Flora’s Musings…

Hello my lovely followers,

If you’ve read my blurb on my home page you will know that I started this blog for the stuff I find inspiring, amusing or interesting.  Over the past three years the pages that I’ve created and the posts that I’ve shared have indeed been just that. Looking at the categories and tags relating to reading and books it seems my favourite hobby has stolen the limelight.

I received an e-mail from Amazon recently asking if I’d like to join their Associate program. I’m not sure why? Perhaps it’s because of the 175 book reviews I’ve posted on Amazon, perhaps I was just one in a blanket of UK customers that they contacted, the reason isn’t really important, suffice to say I’ve spent the last couple of days reading through Amazon’s Q&A articles and doing a bit of research myself about what other bloggers think about the program. I didn’t want to sign up to anything that would cause me (or you, dear followers) distress.

I came to the conclusion that, like so many people today, if it weren’t for Amazon, I’d be completely lost. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said, “I ordered it on Amazon” when speaking to family and friends about birthday gifts, Christmas presents, DVDs or just stuff for the home – I seem to order everything on Amazon these days! Plus I already link to Amazon when I write my book reviews, so I bit the bullet, stopped second guessing myself and signed up to the Associate program today.

So, what does it mean for Flora’s Musings…?

Not much, if I’m honest.  When I write my book reviews, I’ll continue to add the purchase links to Amazon that, if you click on, will take you to the relevant page.  The difference now will be that if you buy the book (i.e, OneClick or place it in your shopping cart and complete the purchase), I’ll get a very (very) small percentage back. The other links that I add to my book reviews (e.g. Barnes & Noble, iBooks, Google, Kobo, etc) will continue just as they are – I believe in giving you a choice and wouldn’t want the authors to miss out on any sales just because of me.

I’m also thinking of writing a weekly or monthly post containing stuff that I’ve found and added to my own Amazon wish list (e.g. music, books, films, etc). If anything catches your eye, please feel free to click on it, if not, then no worries. Well, in for a penny in for a pound as my Granny used to say. Lol!

Oh and apparently I need to add a small sentence at the bottom of posts to let readers know that I’m a part of the Associates program.  The official statement is:

Flora’s Musings… is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.co.uk, and you will be redirected to Amazon.co.uk if you click on the links provided.

However, what I’ll probably add will be more like:

Before I go, I don’t work for Amazon, I’m just a woman who loves to blog and share stuff but Amazon (and I) want ensure that you understand that the Amazon UK link that I’ve included in this post is “commercial” in nature.

Do you think that sounds better? Certainly less stuffy. Well it’ll be something like that anyway.  So, just to get us started, I’ve added my affiliate link to the Amazon logo that will take you to the purchase page for a £10 e-gift voucher, just in case you were thinking about treating yourself or someone you love, just click on the picture.

So, I just wanted to say thank you so much for following my blog (apparently there are 86 of you now) – I can’t begin to express how truly grateful I am! I hope that this new addition to my posts enhances your visits and you stay with me for many years to come.
