My Favourite Genre

Hello Dear Avid Readers,

As most of you already know, my favourite genre is paranormal romance (PNR) which is a sub-genre of the romance novel related to paranormal fiction. Paranormal romance focuses on romance and includes elements beyond the range of scientific explanation, blending together themes from the genres of urban fantasy, traditional fantasy, science fiction, or horror.

Paranormal romance may range from traditional category romances with a paranormal setting to stories where the main emphasis is on a science fiction or fantasy based plot with a romantic sub-plot included. Paranormal romance stories tend to feature a lot of romance, suspense and action, as well as sometimes include mystery, humour and/or horror in the plot-line.

Common hallmarks are romantic relationships between humans, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, fairies, demons, witches, sorcerers, ghosts, and other entities of a supernatural or otherworldly nature. Beyond the more prevalent themes involving vampires, shapeshifters, or time travel, paranormal romances can also include books featuring characters with psychic abilities, like telekinesis or telepathy.

You only have to do a quick search of Flora’s Musings… to see that I’ve posted 158 times with the tag paranormal romance! Some of my favourite authors in this genre include; Felicity Heaton, Dianne Duvall and Teresa Gabelman.

Before I go, I want to remind you all of the current offer from Audible that’s available until December 14th. You can join Audible for only £3.99/month for the first four months instead of the usual £7.99/month. I think that is a pretty amazing deal! Check it out here.

With your Audible membership, you get a monthly credit that can be used to get any audiobook no matter what length or price AND you get to keep the book for life even if you cancel your membership.

That’s all from me for now. I’m off to scour Amazon and Audible to find me some bargains.

Flora x
