An Interesting Reading Challenge

Hello My Lovelies,

As my long standing followers will know, since joining Goodreads.com in 2014, I have signed up to their yearly Reading Challenge and in addition to this, I periodically join reading challenges created by the groups that I belong to.

I have joined a challenge based on the esoteric art of Palmistry that can be completed at your own pace set by My Vampire Book Obsession . They are a great group who love reading (my Goodreads To Be Read shelf has grown since joining.

“If, like us, you enjoy anything VAMPIRE in the paranormal, horror, urban fantasy, dystopia, romance, fantasy genre, then this place is for you. Besides vampires we welcome lovers of werewolves, ghosts, zombies, immortals… anything out of this world. You are all welcome here! Please make yourself and home and join in on discussions.

Please Note: Due to the mature nature of some books discussed in this group, membership in this group is limited to those 18 years and older.”

I haven’t done an own pace challenge before but I loved the idea of this one. I have copied the details below, what do you think?

⁍This is a reading challenge with a palm reading.

⁍For your palm reading, you get three areas read; a line, a marking and a mount. not real ones this is just for fun please don’t send me pictures of your palm 😉

⁍For the reading challenge, you may do the tasks for each or spell out the name of the line/marking/mount. You can do both as well if you want.

⁍You can start this challenge whenever you want and set your own pace. When you’re finished, you can request another reading and play again if you like.

∞ Task Challenge
Three tasks for each area. You may do one, two, or all three tasks. It’s up to you! You will get three areas read totalling nine tasks per reading.

∞ Spell-It-Out Challenge
Using the first letter of a book title, series title, author’s first or last name, or a character’s first or last name to spell out the name of your line/marking/mount. You may do all three or just one (or two whatever).

∞ To play…
– Request a reading below.
– I will post your reading asap.
– Create a tracking post after your reading has been posted. Your tracking post will be linked below.
– This challenge has no time limit or minimum book count (well you need to read at least one book).

When you have completed this challenge you will earn this Vampire Heart.

So, what do you think, it sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Here is what I got for my first reading.

The head line, also known as the wisdom line (considered one of the most important lines in Chinese palmistry), reveals mental and psychological makeup and intellectual development and intuitive abilities.

Long — Indicates intelligence and a good memory. Represents an individual who thinks things through and does not overreact. They look at many possibilities before taking action.

Deep — This denotes an excellent memory, concentration and a sensible nature.

Curved or sloping — Indicates a romantic and creative and idealistic individual who is open to new ideas and is not afraid to investigate concepts or beliefs. This person trusts his inklings and intuition.

Tasks
Read a book…
‣ with an intelligent character
‣ with a head on the cover
‣ with someone in a leadership role

Spell-It-Out
Using the first letter of a book title, series title, author’s first or last name, or a character’s first or last time to spell out HEAD LINE

descriptionMount of Venus
The Mount of Venus is located on the palm of the hand at its base, between the thumb and the Life Line. It is an indicator of love, romance, passion, sensuality, the lovers one chooses and physical appearance. If this mount is normally elevated, it can indicate an attractive and healthy individual who is passionate about the arts and the finer things in life. It can also represent someone who is well respected, influential and enjoys the benefits of true friendships. If it appears over developed, this may indicate an individual who overindulges and is promiscuous. It can also denote an individual who seeks instant gratification. A flat or absent Mount of Venus can indicate a person who does not have a connection to family life, faces many troubles and might possibly suffer from an illness or other hardship. It can also indicate someone who easily criticizes others and who is not taken in by physical beauty.

Tasks
Read a book…
‣ with a female main character
‣ with a magical character (a witch/wizard/elemental etc.)
‣ tagged ‘fantasy’

Spell-It-Out
Using the first letter of a book title, series title, author’s first or last name, or a character’s first or last time to spell out “Mount of Venus”

description
Islands indicate interruptions in life that are not favorable. Usually, they indicate stressful periods, either brought on by a career or someone causing one mental stress. They can also indicate fearfulness and weakness in health, in particular, inherited heart disease or a disturbance of one’s energy. It is important to look closely at the island to be sure that it does end and the lines continue.

Tasks
Read a book…
‣ that’s been on your TBR for longer than one month.
‣ that’s part of a series you need to finish.
‣ from a genre you don’t usually read.

Spell-It-Out
Using the first letter of a book title, series title, author’s first or last name, or a character’s first or last time to spell out “Islands”

I’ve worked out that I need to read 36 books if I want to complete every task in this reading – I will see how I go. I will keep you posted every few weeks with my progress and the books that I’ve read but if you have any suggestions for any of the tasks, please feel free to leave a comment below. 😉

I hope you have great weekend.
