Top 5 Tuesday – My A to E Favourite Reads

Good morning my lovelies,

I had a great time last month joining with Top 5 Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and thought I’d take part again this month too. Shanah comes up with the topics a month at a time so that we’ve got some thinking space. If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list.

This month Shanah is trying something different; each week instead of a topic, she wants us to post books that have titles that start with particular letters of the alphabet!

I will be putting on my thinking cap and trawling through my bookshelves to share with you those books that meet the required criteria that have earned a place on my Goodreads 5 Star Review shelf.

So without further ado, this week, we’re starting at the beginning with…

As I mentioned above, each of these books has received a 5 star rating from me. Clicking on the image will take you to my review here on the blog with the full blurb, author links and purchase buttons.

A is for – Amanda Cadabra and the Hidey-Hole Truth by Holly Bell

Amanda Cadabra and The Hidey-Hole Truth is a cozy mystery novel (approximately 246 pages) within the paranormal genre. It is the first book written by British author, Holly Bell, in her Amanda Cadabra series and is set in the fictional English village of Sunken Madley.

B is for – Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang

Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance is a standalone novel (approximately 352 pages) that would sit happily within the literary fiction, urban fantasy and/or magical realism genres and quite possibly the young adult genre too due to the lack of any explicit 18+ content.

C is for – Chosen (The Warrior Chronicles #1) by K.F. Breene

Chosen is the first book (approx 413 pages) in K.F. Breene’s epic high fantasy series – The Warrior Chronicles – a completed six book series with a prequel novella available too.

The world Ms Breene created is populated by peoples of different clans with varying skills including; skilled craftsmen, effective traders, and warriors who fight with blade and arrow to either protect their inhabitants or to enslave others. There are aggressive clans who are hell-bent on stealing and invading other lands and despicable dictators, warlords and aggressors who’s vision is to have everyone under their tyrannical rule.

D is for – Darkness Dawns (Immortal Guardians #1) by Dianne Duvall

Darkness Dawns is the first book in Ms Duvall’s popular Immortal Guardians Series (currently 9 novels plus 2 novellas); a paranormal romance tale (approx 346 pages) – although I think it would sit happily on the urban fantasy shelf due to some of the content – set in our modern human world featuring a new twist on the vampire genre.

Immortals and vampires are both infected with the same virus, which lends them dramatically increased strength, speed, healing capabilities and enhanced senses. Vampires are humans who have been infected, whereas immortals are gifted ones who have been infected. Gifted ones are men and women who were born with extremely advanced DNA that lends them special gifts, such as healing, telepathy, precognition and the like. Vampires rapidly descend into madness when the virus damages their brains but Immortals don’t; their advanced DNA protects them from that aspect of the virus.

E is for – Esher (Guardians of Hades #3) by Felicity Heaton

Esher is the third novel (100,000 words) in Felicity Heaton’s paranormal romance series – Guardians Of Hades. This series is about the sons of Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld, and his Goddess wife, Persephone; Ares, Valen, Daimon, Esher, Keras, Calistos and Marek.

Each son has been charged with guarding one of the seven gates to the Underworld – which are located here on Earth – from the daemons who want to use them and cause an apocalypse foretold by the Greek fates, the Moirai.

  1. Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance made my list too! And I seriously debated using Chosen for my C pick. About two years ago I went on a K.F. Breene binge where I read every single books she had published ❤
