Hello Avid Readers,
Sometimes, when I read a book I don’t write a full review, I just write a paragraph or two to publish on Amazon and Goodreads; especially if it’s a book with thousands of reviews already. But I want to build up my blog to be THE place to go to for paranormal romance fans, so I should really post those smaller reviews on here too, right?
So with that in mind, today, I want to share my thoughts about…
Life Sentence: Two Tales of the Living Dead by Kelley Armstrong
A duo of zombie tales by best selling author Kelley Armstrong.
As other Cabals look to vampires for the cure to mortality, Daniel Boyd sets his sights on the “other” undead: zombies. Of course, finding volunteers for his experiments proves a bit of a challenge, but when a man only has six months to live, he’s willing to break a few rules.
In the aftermath of a zombie virus outbreak, a troop of soldiers fights to save their people from extinction. But there’s something a little different about this particular group of survivors…
Two Short Stories Of Urban Fantasy Horror That Felt Like Full Novels
Kelley Armstrong is a new-to-me author but I was blown away by her ability to draw me in and keep me hooked in so few pages.
Both of these short stories – Life Sentence and Last Stand – had characters that felt real and believable, the world was fleshed out enough to come alive in my mind, both of the plots developed at a good pace and even had surprising twists that caught me off guard. I think that it is the tell of a talented author to make you so engrossed that you forget that you’re reading a short story rather than a novel.
I will definitely be reading more of Ms Armstrong’s work, I’m looking forward to seeing what she can accomplish in a full length novel. 😉
