A Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That ~ Friday Finds plus Book Blogger Hop

Hello Avid Readers,

Today is Friday so it’s time for another Friday Finds post. I have found some great book reviews around the blogosphere that I want to share with you this week.

I am enjoying being part of the weekly  Book Blogger Hop meme too, hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict, so I’m doing it again today and my answer to this week’s question is at the bottom of this post.

If you are one of my lovely new followers let me just take a moment to explain what my Friday Finds posts are all about. I like to read, my favourite genre is paranormal romance but I’ve also been known to curl up with the odd urban fantasy or paranormal cosy mystery too. BUT it’s a big wide literary world out there and I decided back in January 2019 that you, my dear followers, might be interested in reading reviews about books from other genres to help find your next read. Ta!Da! My weekly Friday Finds post was born.

So, here are some book reviews that my fellow book bloggers have enjoyed reading (in no particular order).

The Testament by Margaret Atwood from The Critiquing Chemist

Sarah’s reading material is diverse and her reviews are always intelligent and honest; this week it’s an audiobook that’s under her microscope. Not everything on Sarah’s blog is about books, she also posts about the places she’s travelled to and her experiences while there. As I’ve said before, Sarah Lockwood’s blog is one that I always make time to read.

The Anarchists’ Club by Alex Reeve from Charlotte Burt’s Books (Formally Engrossed in a Good Book)

Charlotte is an avid reader of all things literary, with a guilty pleasure for fantasy novels but also likes reading non-fiction where the subject has grabbed her interest, most of all books on Buddhism and meditation, art, drawing and painting but also popular science.

The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell from The Bookish Libra

Suzanne is a proofreader by day, book blogger by night and a devourer of books 24/7. She loves reading most genres; contemporary and historical, adult and YA, and has confessed to also enjoying more and more fantasy lately. Her hobbies include: buying and hoarding of books, rambling about books to anyone who will listen and trying to recommend books to her family and friends.

Gypsy King (Tin Gypsy #1) by Devney Perry from A British Bookworm’s Blog

Jo is a fellow Brit who loves reading but unlike me she reads across the genres and is continually sharing new releases with her followers. She is spreading the reading love and I guarantee that you’ll find something that you’ll want to read! Lol! This contemporary romance had her hooked from page 1 and she devoured it in a day!

And my final review this week is from a wonderful blogger who has recently turned her hand to writing and has publisher her first full length novel …

The Thirteenth Gate by Kat Ross from The Secret Library

Rosie Wylor-Owen is a writer, a reader, a blogger and, apparently, she is also the maker of her own crazy teas. 😉 Rosie set up The Secret Library Book Blog because she loves reading urban fantasy fiction almost as much as she loves writing it. She fills her blog with reviews, new releases and loves sharing her finds with everyone.

So, that’s my picks for this week. I hope you find a moment or two to click at least one of these reviews yourself – who knows you may just find your next favourite author!

Now on to the Book Blogger Hop meme which is hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict. A question is posted each week, you answer the question and visit others blogs to see what their answers are. Easy!

So this week’s question is:

Did you go shopping on Thanksgiving Night, Black Friday, or on Cyber Monday? If so, did you buy any books?

(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

I can’t remember that last time that I specifically went shopping (either in the high street or online) because it was a special event like this. Obviously we don’t have Thanksgiving here in the UK but we do have Black Friday and Cyber Monday. You used to be able to snag a real bargain on Black Friday but now I feel that you can find better deals at other times.

So what about you? Do you look forward to these special shopping events? Did you get any bargains this year? I’d love to hear about it if you did.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read this post. I hope you have a great weekend and manage to read (or listen to) a great book.

Happy Reading!

x

  1. I’m not a fan of Black Friday or Cyber Monday… They’re overhyped. I feel like retailers inflate prices over the summer so they can “legitimately” say they’ve been ‘slashed’ on this particular weekend when they’ve just been made more reasonable. *smoke curls out of nostrils*
However, to each their own! 🙂
