Flora's Mini Book Reviews… The Bite That Binds (The Deep in Your Veins Series #2) by Suzanne Wright #2020AudiobookChallenge

Hello Fellow Book Lovers,

Usually, when I read a book I don’t write a full review, I just write a paragraph or two to publish on Amazon and Goodreads; especially if it’s a book with thousands of reviews already.

With that in mind, today, I want to share my thoughts about a great book that been on my TBR pile since I attended RARE19 in London! I was lucky enough to meet Suzanne Wright (a new-to-me author) and spend a few minutes chatting with her. She is lovely and I’m so glad that I finally managed to read one of her books, although it wont be the last! 😉

So, on to my thoughts about …

The Bite That Binds (The Deep in Your Veins #2) by Suzanne Wright

It’s just over a week until Sam will be Binding with Jared, and the only thing she wants is to spend that time relaxing and preparing for the ceremony. Unfortunately, she seems to be asking too much of fate, because suddenly she’s lumbered with a number of distractions that have the potential to postpone, or even cancel, the Binding. There’s a guarded fiancé to crack, a complicated assignment to deal with, Jared’s ex to alienate, and a bunch of snobbish Master Vampires to win over – or offend, whichever. On the upside, things couldn’t possibly be any worse, could they?

Actually, yes they could. Due to a cruel twist of fate, something strange is happening to Sam –something that is changing her in ways she doesn’t like or understand. With the help of Jared and those closest to her, she has to not only handle the threats to the Binding Ceremony, but find a way to fix what has been done to her – and fast.

Warning: This book contains a stubborn and occasionally homicidal female vampire, a powerful and overprotective male vampire who refuses to lose her, and scenes of a sexual, explicit nature.

An Amazing Story That Doesn’t Let You Go!

Suzanne Wright is still a relatively new-to-me author and this is only the second book of hers I’ve read but definitely wont be the last. I love her writing style; the pace she set for her story, the characters she creates and the gripping plot-lines.

I love that this book brought out so many emotions; yes, I did growl like a wild woman at times in frustration, I wanted to hide from the violence and cruelty and yes, I did shed a tear or two. However, I also smiled and chuckled out loud at all the lighter moments, humour and well written banter. 😉

I enjoy a story more when the main female character is intelligent, resilient, resourceful, self-reliant and has plenty of gumption. Sam ticked all my boxes and then some. I love her sense of humour, sarkiness and an innate sense of right and wrong. All the characters that Ms Wright has created for this series are complex and multifaceted which makes both the villains and heroes feel more believable.

Once again, I downloaded the narration by Justine Eyre and P. J. Ochlan and enjoyed the variation that these actors brought to the duel point of view. My only remaining criticism is that, to my English ear, Ochlan’s version of Sam’s London accent not as good as Eyre’s but I did get used to it as the story swept me away.

The Bite That Binds is a bloody good book and I have already downloaded book 3 through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Due to the sexual scenes, colourful vocabulary and expletives throughout this story, I would recommend this book to adults who are not offended by content of this sort who love stories about kickass heroines and deserving alphas within the adult paranormal romance genre with story-lines about fighting for what’s right.

Buy THE BITE THAT BINDS (or catch up with the whole series) in print, ebook and audio formats through the usual sources, including:
