Hello, fellow audiobook junkies. I’d like to take a moment and shine my spotlight on some super storytellers!
We all love great stories: my blog is full of them! However, rather than the authors of such tales, I’d like to talk about the amazing narrators that read them to us.
Honestly, my relationship with audio hasn’t been smooth sailing, as my post about my growing love for audiobooks confirms. However, the format has burrowed into my heart and is now my preferred format. As I slowly made the switch from ebooks to audiobooks, I’ve learnt that a narrator can make or break my enjoyment of a story. Thankfully, there are some super storytellers out there. Therefore, consider this their space. These are the amazing and talented narrators that I’ve heard and would recommend you listen to.
As you can see, I’ve listed them alphabetically by surname in a handy A to Z of recommended tale-spinners. To find out more about them, click on their social media links. I know, you love me too 😉

Matt has a wealth of accents and voices; creating just the right one for each character. The pace that he reads at and the emotion he puts in transports me into every scene. I think that he’s a talented voice actor.

Caitlin’s narration of The Warrior Chronicles opened up the epic fantasy genre to me. I feel that she personified the protagonist; bringing Shanti to life in her narration of this series. The pace at which Caitlin reads the narrative is great, adding just the right amount of emotion to her performance to transport me into each scene. The voices she created for each character (especially the Honour Guard in The Warrior Chronicles) added another level of credibility to the dialogue.
I like the pace at which Cris reads stories and enjoy the slight tonal adjustment she makes for the characters’ dialogue. I never feel confused about who is speaking. Cris definitely captured Tori’s personality in The Guild Codex: Spellbound series.

I think Ava’s performances are really good. She conveys the appropriate emotions when reading the different scenes and I like the pace that she read at too. Ava has a number of convincing accents and voices in her repertoire – both male and female. It’s always clear during the many conversations who is saying what.

OK, so I was a BIG fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Spike was my favourite character. However, putting that aside, I can’t imagine The Dresden Files being narrated by anyone else! I feel that James has personified the protagonist; bringing Harry to life in his narration of this series. The pace at which James reads the narrative is great, adding just the right amount of emotion to his performance to transport me into each scene. The voices he’s created for each character adds another level of credibility to the dialogue.

|P. J. Ochlan|
Ochlan’s ability to produce distinctive but believable accents ensures his addition to my recommended narrators’ list. I’m never confused about who’s speaking and enjoy the emotion he adds to his performances.

Nicole is a wonderful narrator. Her performance while reading brings each story to life. I like the pace at which she reads and the emotions she conveys. There are some very unique characters in the books Nicole has narrated, and the voices she has created for them all are impressive – their personalities shine through. Nicole manages to transport me into each and every scene she reads.
Kirsten narrates Dianne Duvall’s books and her performance is always excellent. She conveyed just what the story needs when it’s needed. Kirsten has a knack for voices and has created many for this series. The different accents she uses for Dianne’s characters bring them to life in my ear! I’m never lost during the many conversations and enjoy the quirks Kirsten’s performance highlights.

The Iron Druid Chronicles in the UK are read by Christopher Ragland. I love his narrations. Christopher brings each character to life in his narration of this series. The pace at which he reads the narrative is great, adding just the right amount of emotion to his performance to transport me into each scene. The multitude of voices he’s created for the many characters (both male and female) is outstanding and adds another level of credibility to the dialogue.
