Hello fellow bookworms, today I’d like to share my thoughts about Daimon by Felicity Heaton. Book 6 in Felicity’s paranormal romance series, Guardians of Hades. My thanks to the author, Felicity Heaton, for the advanced eBook.
Quote from Daimon
“He [Daimon] had closed it [his heart] off long ago, had hardened himself and pushed away everyone except his family.
He didn’t want to feel anything. Not anymore. His heart was ice now. No trace of feeling left in it.
It was ice now.”
My Overall Rating: 5/5

Daimon is ice. His heart is frozen by it. His body caged by it. And he likes it that way. But the sexy sorceress that storms into his life and declares herself a part of his team in his battle against the daemon uprising is determined to melt the ice that has shielded him for centuries, and he’s powerless to stop the burning need she ignites in him.
Even when he’s sure it’s only a game to her.
Cassandra has a sword hanging over her, a duty she has no choice but to perform and one she’s been putting off for years. Her latest excuse? Helping a band of immortal brothers with a war that might mean the end of this world if they fail. Her delaying the inevitable has nothing to do with the gorgeous Greek god who keeps rebuffing her and everything to do with saving the world. He’s a nice distraction and nothing more. She keeps telling herself that.
Even when she’s sure he’s a danger to her heart.
As things heat up in the battle to save the mortal world and the Underworld, will Daimon’s icy heart be able to withstand the fiery witch who can scorch him with just a look?

What did I like about Daimon?
I’m already a big fan of Felicity Heaton’s books. I love her writing style and think her world-building is amazing. The mix of fantasy and reality captures my attention right from the start. I love the characters she creates. They’re never stereotypical good or evil but a complex assortment of positive and negative traits and emotions. It’s this combination and attention to detail that always makes her stories feel more realistic for me.
Daimon was a story worth waiting for!
Let me explain. Daimon has held a special place in my heart from the very first book in this series. Therefore, I’ve been chomping at the bit for him to find a worthy love. I was a bit hesitant at first whether Cass was good enough for him. However, it soon became clear that I’d made some assumptions about her and her personality that were obviously just for show. I enjoyed seeing a different side to both of them and getting under the defences. Cassandra’s a fabulous addition to the female mates!
Now we need to mention the s-e-x. 😉
Felicity writes great sex scenes, they’re explicit but she still makes them feel romantic. This is a talent sadly lacking in many books I’ve read over the years. The erotic scenes are balanced beautifully with poignant internal dialogue and heartfelt revelations from Daimon and Cass.
Daimon had me hooked and gave me all the feels I crave.
I adored the bickering between Daimon and Cass as well as the passionate love scenes. Held my breath during the edge-of-your-seat fight scenes and battles. Of course, I was a blubbering mess during the many tender and sadder scenes. However, the humour and banter always came at the right time to make me smile and chuckle.
Was there anything I didn’t like?
I absolutely loved everything about this book! (Hence the 5 stars.)
Felicity loves a happy ever after ending for her romantic couples in all her books. Therefore, Daimon and Cassandra aren’t left hanging, unsatisfied. 😉 The immediate threats are dealt with without the need for a life-or-death cliffhanger either. woohoo! However, some story threads that run through the whole series remain unresolved.
Felicity tries to ensure that new readers or existing forgetful ones aren’t confused or lost reading Daimon. Essential information from previous books is weaved seamlessly within these pages. However, you’ll be missing the little things jumping straight in or reading these books out of order.
Basically, what I’m saying is…
I loved this paranormal romance adventure. I read Greek myths when I was younger and love that they’re the inspiration for this series. With Felicity’s usual twist, of course.
Daimon was a great read, engaging me from the very first page! It made me smile, cry and feel all hot and bothered (in a good way). I loved the well-written banter, kick-arse fighting, and the romance.
There are scenes of explicit sexual content and graphic violence in this book. Therefore, I’d only recommend it to adults who aren’t offended by scenes of this sort.
Who would I recommend Daimon to?
Adult readers who enjoy stories about the protective barriers we build around us. Those who want characters with hidden depths and stories exploring the lengths we go for family. And of course, readers who, like me, adore tales about soul-saving love with oodles of passion.
