Hello Avid Readers,

Welcome to another book review!

This year, as you may know, I set myself the long overdue challenge of actually finishing some series! 😉 Today, I want to share my thoughts about a book I first read back in December 2018 and although I left a review on Amazon and Goodreads I didn’t post one on my blog. I’m rectifying that oversight now!

Fool Moon (The Dresden Files #2) by Jim Butcher

Fool Moon by Jim Butcher

Meet Harry Dresden, Chicago’s first (and only) Wizard P.I. Turns out the ‘everyday’ world is full of strange and magical things – and most of them don’t play well with humans. That’s where Harry comes in.

Business has been slow lately for Harry Dresden. Okay, business has been dead. Not undead – just dead. You would think Chicago would have a little more action for the only professional wizard in the phone book. But lately, Harry hasn’t been able to dredge up any kind of work – magical or mundane. But just when it looks like he can’t afford his next meal, a murder comes along that requires his particular brand of supernatural expertise. A brutally mutilated corpse. Strange-looking paw prints. A full moon. Take three guesses. And the first two don’t count . . .

Magic – it can get a guy killed.

Another Gripping Story In This Urban Fantasy Series.

This story had everything that I look for in an engaging book; it has a good balance between the various aspects of this story – mystery, crime, thriller, horror, detective and paranormal – and blends them with well written humour that was dry and helped to keep it from being too heavy. This story surprised me a few times and I enjoyed trying to second guess where Mr Butcher would take us next!

I’ve read the previous book in this series and really enjoyed it however, I don’t think that you have to have read Storm Front to enjoy this one.

I added the narration too and I alternated between reading and listening to the tale. I feel that the narration by James Marsters helped to bring our hero, Harry Dresden to life.

Grave Peril (book 3) is already added to my Amazon wish list.

Buy the book

Buy FOOL MOON (or read the whole series) in print, audio and eBook formats through the usual sources including:

Amazon UK ¦ Amazon US ¦ Audible ¦ Book Depository ¦ Waterstones ¦ Foyles

(Im part of Amazon , Audible , The Book Depository, Foyles Book Shop and Waterstones affiliate programmes. In other words, when you use my purchase links, I’ll get a (very) small % from the sale which helps me with the costs of blogging)

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my thoughts. I hope I’ve sparked your interest and that you add this one to your towering TBR piles. 😉

Bye for now,

Flora x

    This sounds really good!

  2. Good review! I have been eyeing The Dresden Files book series for a while now, even almost being tempted at times when I was lucky enough to find them in English in a store here (oh how I miss going to stores). Maybe if things are safe and we can go to a store again and I see them, I will grab a couple of them and start reading. 🙂

  3. I recently rewatched The Dresden Files on tv. I’d really like to see a reboot of the series.

I haven’t watched the TV series but I might once I finish reading all the books. (Wouldn’t want spoilers)
