February 2021 Monthly Wrap Up

Hello, my lovelies and welcome to my February 2021 monthly wrap up post.

What have I been up to this month?

February is usually a happy month for me. Celebrations around my Dad’s, Hubby’s and my BBF’s birthdays! It’s usually a month of evenings out and delicious meals. However, with lockdown 3 still in place, we haven’t been able to take the festivities outside of the home. Although we did have a fabulous Chinese takeaway for Hubby’s birthday.

Coronavirus COVID-19 is still sweeping the globe with even more aggressive strains to contend with. *Eek* However, here in the UK, our immunisation programme has successfully been rolled out. Over fifteen million people have received Covid-19 vaccinations, including my parents and in-laws. Hopefully, the current Lockdown3 will be lifted next month, however, our government are still keeping a close eye on hospitalizations, death rates and the contagion level of the virus.

In bloggish news…

I’ve made it a weekly task to work through my old posts, making sure the images have a description and ensuring my reviews are reader and SEO friendly (with the help of the Yoast SEO plugin). All this behind-the-scenes maintenance is necessary but time-consuming.

Please let me know if any pages, posts or links throughout Flora’s Musings either don’t open or you have problems with. Thanks.

Affiliate Programmes

As bloggers, we’re continually bombarded with “make money from your blog“. In 2019 I wrote about my rather sceptical view of book bloggers being able to earn a living from our obsession hobby and my own lacklustre experience.

The Amazon Associate programme is never going to pay enough to cover my book buying habit, so instead I’ve joined the affiliate teams for the companies that make my book blogging experience a dream instead of a chore.

Self-hosting with ChemiCloud logo image

I love being a self-hosted blog with ChemiCloud and can’t recommend them enough. They’ve been quick to respond to my (many) queries and never make me feel like a tech-dummy. Go check them out. Their 50% discount means their plans start at just 3.99 per month! If you use my link, I’ll get a little referrer fee credited to my account. 💜 I want to thank the 202 of you that have already visited ChemiCloud using my link. Thanks for your comments and kind words.

Try Canva Pro for yourself

You may have noticed that I’ve also been looking at the graphics on my blog and across my social media accounts. I’ve been using Canva for a couple of years but recently upgraded to Canva Pro. I love it. The extras are AMAZING! 😉 If you use my link, I’ll get a little referrer fee for this too. 💜

Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin

I’ve been working through my existing reviews and adding the Ultimate Book Blogger plugin by Ashley @ NoseGraze to the posts. I love the plugin so much that I asked Ashley if I could be an affiliate! So again, if you use my link, I’ll get a little referrer fee which helps with the running costs of the blog. 💜

I’m not expecting to make my fortune being part of these affiliate teams, I’d just like to earn a couple of quid to buy some more audiobooks or eBooks to review for you.

What have I been posting?

I’ve been listening to more and more audiobooks each year, so decided to take advantage of my growing addiction interest. 😉 I might even make the permanent switch from eBooks to audiobooks. Check out my progress on My Audiobook Challenge 2021 page.

About Me

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog - www.florasmusings.com

  1. It looks like you’ve had a great month! Good for you to make the big switch to WP.

    1. Flora says:

      Thanks Jodie. X

  2. Looks like you had a pretty great February! And I wish my government would do vaccinations as fast as yours does. Because now… not so much. I have asthma and when they started in January it was the plan for my group to start with vaccinations in February. Feb turned to March. And now it is May. *sighs* I wonder if that will also move to he next month or further. Yay, people who also have birthdays in Feb (I am 5th Feb). And chinese takeaway, YUM, now I want to get some. Haha.

    1. Flora says:

Hope you’ve had the vaccination by now, Mehsi.

      1. Hi, nope, probably May, maybe even later. *sighs*

  3. Victoria Hamel says:

I really hope we will be able to make real progress toward being able to be out and about soon.

    1. Flora says:

Thanks for visiting, Victoria. We’re back to the “rule of 6” so we can now meet up with some family and friends. Hopefully it’ll get more relaxed as the year progresses.

  4. I also use UBB. I’m glad to see you read some books you really enjoyed this month.

  5. Yummy- Chinese takeaway! Always a favorite of mine. And let’s hope things continue to get improve with Covid…

Hope you have a wonderful March.

    1. Flora says:

Thanks Greg. Yes, Chinese is my favourite takeaway too. Hope you have a great March too. Thanks for visiting.

  6. Glad you had a good-ish Feb with lots of (indoors) celebrations! In a way I am scared for this lockdown to end as I can see it rising again and quickly but I really hope not!!! Have a great March ❤

    1. Flora says:

I know what you mean, Caro. Kids come back to school next week and I’m expecting a jump in cases in a couple of weeks. 🙁

      1. On one hand I can wait for my son to go back, he needs it (and so do I!!) but it does worry me!

  7. I wish our government could be like yours. I swear, it feels like a free for all here and a huge majority of people just don’t care. I’m just glad that my parents have started the vaccine process.

    1. Flora says:

The problem is we’re all on a steep learning curve. Stay as safe as you can, Kristin. x

  8. Happy March!

    1. Flora says:

You too Freda. Thanks for visiting. x
