Monthly Wrap Up

February 2020 Monthly Round Up plus The Sunday Post @ Flora’s Musings…

Good morning my lovelies. Welcome to my February 2020 Monthly Round Up post.

The weekends are the perfect time for me to sit back and catch up on life – both on and off the blog. Back in April 2019, I decided to write a monthly round up post at the weekend closest to the last day of the month. I can’t believe I’ve been writing these Wrap Up posts for a year now! 😲🥳

I’ve been linking up to The Sunday Post which is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer (see rules here: Sunday Post Meme) and will carry on that tradition today. 😉

What is the Sunday Post?

The Sunday Post is a chance for us to share news, to recap the past week on our blogs and showcase books and things we have received. To share with you what is coming up on our blogs for the week ahead and don’t forget, this meme is also the perfect opportunity to check out other bloggers and read some great blogs. So, once you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post.

So what have I been up to this month?

After the hubbub of December, January and February always feels much more subdued. But we can begin to see the promise of spring in our gardens and the wild spaces around us… 🌷🐣

The lowlight this month was trying to cope with the staff redundancies that came into effect at the end of January. 🙁 I’m not going to lie, it’s been tough: working practices have changed and we’re all trying to cope with the emotional fallout. 😢

But I don’t want to dwell on the lows. The highlights for me this month included a much needed week off – hallelujah to half term holidays! My BFF’s birthday 🎂, Hubby’s birthday 🎂 and my Dad’s birthday🎂 ! As you can imagine, the new year diet has been on the back-burner while I scoffed my way through all the birthday cake 🎂🧁 and celebration drinkies! 🥂🎁🎉

As you might remember, this year I’m tracking my follower count. Flora’s Musings… has now surpassed the 350 followers mark and, as I type this, there are now 379 of you! That’s bloody fantastic, I’m more confident than ever that we can reach the 500 mark this year.

Thank you to the lovely Kal for the use of her amazing Blogger Spreadsheets and graphics.

I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone of you; knowing that you take the time to read my reviews, like and/or comment on my posts – it makes me all misty-eyed.

With all the turmoil in the world, I get so much job satisfaction from being a teaching assistant and helping children reach their potential. The old adage “every day is a school day” is so true.

I’m finding a similar sense of job satisfaction working with authors as part of my BETA READING service. If you know any debut or self-published authors who are looking for a professional pre-publication or work-in-progress critique, don’t forget to send them my way. If you don’t know what a beta reader does, my page explains it all. 🙂

I’ve taken part in the usual weekly tags and memes this month: Shanah’s Top 5 Tuesday , my Friday Finds and Billy’s Book Blogger Hop.

I really enjoy joining in with these weekly memes and try to return as many visits and comments as I can. Sorry if I’ve missed anyone this month.

I’m still linked up to Blog Lovin’, so if you’re part of that community too, I’d love it if you’d give me a follow and I can follow you back.

So what have I been posting here on my blog? Feel free to click on anything that you missed this month.

I signed up to a new annual challenge this year – Bloody hell, what was I thinking!! I’ve been listening to more and more audiobooks each year, so decided to take advantage of my growing addiction interest. 😉 Check out my progress on My Audiobook Challenge 2020 page.

I’ve been helping some wonderful authors spread the word about their New Releases.

~ New Releases ~

This month I shared the following book birthdays:

How To Love Your Elf by Kerrelyn Sparks

25th ~ Kerrelyn Spark’s How To Love Your Elf

And, of course, this being a book blog, I shared my thoughts about some books I read:

Moving forward, what can you expect from me in March?

  • Celebrating those New Book Releases.
  • Hopefully some author interviews, cover reveals, book tours and spotlight posts.
  • More weekly Friday Finds, Top 5 Tuesdays posts and Book Blogger Hop questions answered.
  • and of course, lots of book reviews!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I take part in the Goodreads Annual Reading Challenge but that’s not the only one I take part in. I thought that I’d use these regular wrap up posts to update you on my progress in all the challenges that I’m taking part in …

Monthly Challenges:

Dracula’s Beauties  ~ Collect a Dracula Beauty each month by completing at least 2 tasks out of a set of 6. A new set of tasks with a new doll is posted each month and I’m planning on taking part in this monthly challenge for the whole year so that I can collect all 12!

Dracula’s Beauties ~ February

I also signed up to these monthly reading challenges:

Incubus Kiss 2020 ~ Angie’s Monthly Challenge: February 2020 ~ Werewolf Frenzy: February 2020

~ Monthly Reading Challenges ~ February 2020 ~

3 Month Challenges:

The Final Countdown ~ Duration: January 1st – March 31st 2020. It’s time to catch up on your series. You have three months to read 10 to 12 books from series you need to catch up on.
You can read them all from a single series or mix it up. You do not need to start at the beginning of a series; the aim is to complete series, not read a whole series in one go so whichever book is next for you is your starting point. Novellas and short stories count as well though you do not need to read them to consider a series completed. The series does not need to be finished for you to complete it here. Just read as far as the last published book.

~ The Final Countdown ~

Yes, I love reading but I’m also addicted to collecting the amazing Vampire Hearts that we earn for every reading challenge completed! You don’t blame me though, do you? They’re gorgeous, right?! Lol!

I plan to use the Final Countdown challenge during the whole year to finish all those series that I’ve started! There are a lot! So I’ll write a separate post periodically after 31st March to let you know how I’m doing. I’ve seen that a few bloggers have set up similar finish the series challenges, perhaps I’ll link up to some of them too…

Like so many of you, I use my blog to review those ARCs (Advance or Early Reader Copy) that I’ve received from authors or publishers both directly and through NetGalley. (I’ve finally got my NetGalley addiction under control.) Each month, I’m using my wrap up posts to share the ARCs that are waiting to be read.

~ ARCs Yet To Read ~
  • March Releases ~ Bears Behaving Badly (31st)
  • April Releases ~ nothing yet!
  • May Releases ~ The Fiery Crown (26th) ~ Scorpio’s Grace (to be read before the next book in the series is released this month!)
  • June Releases ~ nothing yet!

I’m currently reading Magic Unleashed ready for the Ultimate Blog Tour being organised by the amazing Dave @ The Write Reads

I’ve managed to stick to my NetGalley Plan – limited myself to only requesting a couple per month and try to spread out the release dates of those books – and my ARC TBR pile is happily under control!

Thanks to the wonderful authors, publishers, tour organisers and NetGalley for the opportunities they give me to read books and feed my addiction! 😉

I love browsing the various Facebook groups and reading groups that I belong; they always seem to have such great memes for every occasion. 😉

So, now you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post. If you’re taking part too, don’t forget to leave your comment below with a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit your blog and check out what you’ve been up to.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Bye for now.

About Me

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog -
