Genres: Adult Paranormal Romance
Narrator: Jeffrey Kafer
Length: 7 hours 2 minutes

The VC Warriors are an elite group of vampire who protect innocents, whether human or those of their own race. Jared Kincaid, along with other Warriors, are shocked when a fiery redhead with a gun and attitude, bring news of young teens being turned into an army of half-breed vampires capable of taking out all VC Warriors.
Breaking into the famed VC Warriors compound was definitely not the smartest thing Tessa Pride has ever done, but she will do anything for her brother, Adam. The Warriors held the one person she knew was responsible for her brother being turned into a half-breed and nothing will stop her from getting what she needs to help her brother, not even a Warrior whose eyes could make her melt with one look.
Jared and Tessa join forces in a desperate scramble to find who is responsible. With a war between Warriors and half-breeds brewing, suspicions of traitors in their midst put the lives of everyone involved on the line.

So, what did I like about Jared?
I’ve become a fan of Teresa Gabelman’s writing style. Her books are easy to read, the plots are gripping and the pace is fast but never feels rushed. I’m drawn in with believable main characters and a fantastic array of supporting cast (both human and vampire) that leaves me wanting to read more of their adventures.
Jared was amazing and I loved it!
I loved that this is not just a fuzzy romance story, there are a few story arcs running through this book alongside the romance aspect between Tessa and Jared; the mystery of who’s turning the local adolescents into half breeds, Adam’s love life and Pam’s horrendous relationship with Kenny. Rather than feeling confused, I think that these additional plotlines added further depth to the book, they not only kept my little grey cells buzzing but kept the adrenaline going too.
Those of you that have read my reviews before, will know that I enjoy a story more if the lead female character is intelligent, resilient and has a good sense of humour – I wasn’t disappointed here. Tessa is everything that I look for in a lead female character; she’s smart, witty and has plenty of gumption, she has a strong moral compass and loyalty that makes her fight for her family and those she considers under her care and although she’s got a bit of a chip on her shoulder about her figure, hey what women hasn’t, it kinda made her feel more real, easier to relate to.
This book, heck this series so far, certainly doesn’t shy away from difficult themes; child abuse, physical abuse, racism, drug addiction, sexual abuse, mental health issues, terminal illness… luckily Ms Gabelman tackles these subjects with compassion, engaging prose and balances out the horror with beautiful romance and oodles of humour and great banter.
I loved that this book had me blubbering like a baby, got my blood boiling with rage but also laughing my socks off and while I must confess that I found certain scenes terrifying and shocking, Jared definitely hit all the right spots passion-wise *blush* and warmed my old romantic heart.
So, um, was there anything I disliked about it?
Nope, not a thing, hence the 5 stars.
However, I’d take this opportunity to remind you that Jared is the second book in a series.
Each book brings us a turbulent romance between a new couple within this amazing paranormal world. However, the story threads relating to the new half-breeds and the vampire blood drug trade continue in various forms throughout this series.
Ms Gabelman weaves basic details into her books so that new readers aren’t completely lost. Although I don’t think that it’s essential to your enjoyment of Jared to have read the previous book, I do feel that you’d miss an awful lot if you haven’t read Damon first.
So, basically what I’m saying is…
I really loved this paranormal romance story! It’s got everything that I look for in a great book; action, romance, humour, an engaging plotline and well written erotic sex scenes. Couldn’t stop reading it!
This book has graphic violence and explicit sex as well as some darker themes. Therefore, I’d only recommend this book to adults who are OK reading material of this nature.
I’d recommend Jared to adults who are fans of relationship and romance tales with gritty storylines and lots of passion.
