So, before we get into what I thought about this book, I want you to know that I was lucky enough to be given a digital version of this book for free from Felicity Heaton for an honest review.

Thanks for the ARC.

…So what’s this book about?

Tamed by a Tiger is a paranormal romance novella (50,000 words) featuring a host of cat shape-shifters, is set in the same world as Ms Heaton’s Vampire Erotic Theatre  paranormal romance series and is the latest book in her Eternal Mates series (there will be 15 books in the series by the end of 2017).

As with all the books in this series, the romance aspect of this tale is concluded by the end of the book in Ms Heaton’s signature HEA style meaning that Tamed by a Tiger can be read as a standalone story. Yes, there are cameos and references to past adventures but any relevant information is weaved expertly into the plot. Having said that, I do feel that as with most long standing series, you may miss the nuances of experiencing past relationships, plot lines and characters when jumping in cold or reading books out of order.

Now, as my regular followers will know, I never post spoilers or reveal any plot twists in my reviews, so here’s the book’s official blurb:

A snow leopard shifter in the prime of his life, the last thing on August’s mind is tying himself to one female. He welcomes a different one to his bed each night, or at least he had until five months ago when he became alpha. The duties and pressures of running his pride have his libido dead on arrival—until a trip to London to discuss business with the former alpha lands him in the path of a beautiful, bewitching tigress who awakens a passion in him that flares white hot and a need of her that consumes his every moment.

Promised at birth to a male she has never met, Maya has left her pride behind to go to the tiger alpha who is to be her mate, but she can’t leave without saying goodbye to her older brother, Talon. A stop in London at Underworld to see him one last time turns out far different, and far more dangerous, than how she had imagined it when she sets eyes on an alluring crimson-haired stranger who stirs new, unbidden feelings in her, desires that rouse her fiercest and most frightening instincts and demand she stake a claim on him—her fated mate.

Will Maya be strong enough to place her pride and her family’s safety before the desires of her own heart? And will August unravel his feelings for the black-haired beauty before it’s too late and he loses her forever?

…So, what did I like about it?

As I have said before, I am a fan of Ms Heaton’s writing style; I find her books very easy to read, the worlds she creates are interesting, the journeys she takes us on are well thought out and the characters she introduces us to are all complex beings that quickly become real in our imaginations and hearts! Tamed by a Tiger didn’t disappoint!

In this story, the traditions, hierarchy and expectations of the various cat shifter communities played a big role and I enjoyed the way Ms Heaton dealt with this. August and Maya both have responsibilities that are in conflict with their feelings for each other and I couldn’t stop reading, I was engrossed in the Romeo&Juliet-esque tale.

Ok, it can’t be a review about Ms Heaton’s work without mentioning sex. For me, a story is only really erotic if I’m emotionally connected to the characters involved, Ms Heaton gives her characters such depth that they do become real while managing to make the most explicit sex scenes very romantic. But this attention to detail is not just given to her main characters; I find all of her characters complex, multifaceted and completely believable due to their very real human virtues and foibles even though they’re mythical, paranormal beings.

Throughout this novella, I found myself giggling, gasping in shock and shedding a tear or two.  Oh, and I definitely got caught up with the passion (who wouldn’t *blush*) but as I said before, the inner dialogue of both August and Maya where they voice their conflicting feelings and admit the growth of their trust and love for each other is beautiful.

…So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?

Absolutely nothing!

…So, basically what I’m saying is…

I really loved this paranormal romance tale. It was a great read that made me smile, cry and feel all warm & fuzzy inside with well written erotic sizzles, edge-of-your-seat fight scenes and heaps of romantic gestures. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy reading stories about the lengths we go for our families, inner strength and of course, soul saving love. *sappysigh*

As with all of Ms Heaton’s books, due to the sexual content – it’s definitely steamy – and the graphic violence, I’d recommend this book to adults who are fans of relationship and romance stories with a bit of fire and passion.
