As Michael’s eyes lit on a female not twenty feet away, he knew without a doubt that it was her blood that called to him and her scent that had awakened him. This female had tethered his soul and returned it to him.

Soul Survivor

He is the last of his race. The one true king of the vampires. Michael Aristov roams the nightclubs of L.A. after dark, haunted by his past and driven by his hunger. The last of the Ancient Ones, he alone has survived the destruction of his race at the hands of the slayers. Now he is forced to hunt and feed like a common vampire, a creature of lust. Nothing in this world can fulfill his needs…until he meets a woman who’s everything he’s ever wanted. And more.

Sweet Salvation

Her name is Claire Thompson. Her blood is so sweet, so intoxicating—the smell alone draws Michael to her like a moth to the flame. Sly, sexy, and seductive, Claire seems to be the only mortal who can satisfy his craving and seal his fate…forever.
Can she be trusted? From their very first kiss, the last true vampire sweeps Claire into a world in which darkness rules desire—and where falling in love is the greatest danger of all…

What did I like about The Last True Vampire?

I found Ms Baxter’s writing style very easy to read. I thought her world-building was really good and had some excellent new ideas. The idea that all Vampires’ memories being connected (The Collective), the part that the Dhampiri (vampire half-breeds) played and their relationship to the True Vampires.

As an old romantic at heart, the “two halves of one soul reunited” love story part satisfied my mushy side. However, it was the will or wont Michael and Claire actually get together, their doubts and insecurities that added a very real and contemporary romance element to this tale that keeps you guessing.

The balance between tense scenes, action scenes and sexual scenes was fab. There was a lump in my throat a number of times reading this story and I can’t tell you how many times the temperature seemed to mount while reading certain scenes too!

Was there anything I disliked about it?

In a word – no. 😉

It’s the first book in a new series, so I was expecting a cliffhanger but I was pleased that the relationship part of this tale ended (in my opinion) happily. I’m OK that the background story arcs; battling Dhampiri covens and the vampire annihilation threat from the Sortiari slayers will be continued in the following books.

Basically, what I’m saying is…

I really loved this amazing novel and I’ve found a new favourite author too! Woohoo!

Content Warning:

There are scenes of explicit sexual content and graphic violence in this book. Therefore, I’d only recommend it to adults who aren’t offended by scenes of this sort.

If you’re a fan of adult paranormal romance stories where your heroines are intelligent, witty and independent and your heroes strong, sexy with a big heart waiting to be unleashed. Or. If you’ve enjoyed reading the “destined soul mate” theme of Felicity Heaton’s Eternal Mates Series or Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians Series, then I think you’ll love this paranormal romance novel too.

I hope I’ve lit a spark of interest for The Last True Vampire. Just click my the links and check it out yourself. Keep reading to find out more about the Last True Vampire series and its author.
