Review: Tessa (The Mate #2) by Teresa Gabelman

book cover for The Mates Series 2 - Tessa by Teresa Gabelman

Hello Avid Readers. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts about Tessa (The Mates #2) by Teresa Gabelman. Book 13.5 in her bestselling adult paranormal romance series, The Protectors.

Sometimes, when I read a book I don’t write a full review. I just write a paragraph or two to publish on Amazon and Goodreads. Especially if it’s a book with thousands of reviews already. But I want to build up my blog to be THE place to go to for paranormal romance fans. Therefore, I should really post those smaller reviews on here too, right?

Teresa Gabelman is one of my favourite authors but I am finding myself drawn to the mini review more and more. You don’t mind, right?!  😉

So, on with my thoughts about…

Tessa (The Mates Series #2) by Teresa Gabelman

Tessa Pride, mate to VC Warrior Jared Kincaid, is doing everything in her power to become a respected Warrior in her own right. Unfortunately, her mate isn’t quite as excited about her passion. Tessa walks into the role with a newfound sense of determination knowing her decisions could end her relationship with the man she loves.

With everything to lose, Tessa steps into the battle of earning the right to walk next to her mate in life, love, and work. Though she is also ready to walk alone if necessary, she will make sure Jared Kincaid regrets that for the rest of his life.

The Mate series delves into the kickass world of the Warriors’ mates and how united, they can make a difference—just like their badass Protectors. Follow along to see how these exceptional women’s newfound freedom affect those around them and which Warrior may or may not support their feisty independent mate’s new and exciting path.

*It is highly recommended to read the Protectors Series before reading the Mates Series*

What did I think about Tessa?

An Emotional Addition To This Fabulous Series.

Wow! I feel breathless – what an amazing paranormal romance story. It’s got everything that I’m looking for in a 5 star read; mystery, action, romance and passion. Couldn’t stop reading this book!

I knew that I wouldn’t be disappointed with our protagonist. Tessa was introduced to us in book 2 of The Protector series

If you’ve read my review before, you’ll know that I need to see certain personality traits. The lead female character has to be intelligent, resilient and have a good sense of humour. Tessa has proved time and time again that she has the strength of character to survive what life throws at her. Her own life has been less than idyllic and she is riddled with insecurities. However, she always thinks of others first. Her journey in this book was inspiring.

I loved that Tessa gave me all the feels that I’ve come to expect.

It had me blubbering like a baby and chuckling out loud. I was horrified and shocked at times plus my blood boiled at the injustice and inequality. However, like all of Teresa’s books, Tessa definitely hits all the right spots passion-wise. *blush* She also places the romance firmly back in paranormal romance I couldn’t put it down!

This is the second book in a new spin-off series. Therefore, I was prepared for the story to have some cliffhangers. Hand on heart, I can say that I’m satisfied with how this book ended regarding the relationship issues between Tessa and Jared. However, I feel you need to have read all of The Protectors books to feel at home with Tessa. I don’t think you can just jump into it.

Content Warning:

This book has sexual scenes, violence, colourful vocabulary and expletives throughout the story. Therefore, I’d only recommend it to adults who are not offended by content of this sort.

I’d recommend Tessa to adults who love reading a good relationship drama. Especially those with gritty storylines, romance and lots of passion.
