Hello my Lovelies,
Back in July the lovely Bella nominated me for a Sunshine Blogger Award, I was touched and very flattered, especially as this is the first time my blog’s been nominated for an award. Bella only started her blog this year, but I think she’s a fantastic book blogger; she’s very enthusiastic, writes great posts, has an open dialogue with her followers and generously shares blog posts across her social media accounts. Many thanks for nominating me, Bella, and my apologies for taking so long to respond. 😉
What is The Sunshine Blogger Award?
It is a peer award given to bloggers who inspire creativity and positivity in the blogging community. All the little rays of sunshine that sometimes go unnoticed. I think that it is a lovely idea to bring smaller bloggers to the forefront as well as celebrating those who truly inspire you within the community.
As The Sunshine Blogger Award is voted for by other bloggers, there are a few rules to follow.
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and link their blog so others can find them.
- Answer the 11 questions which the blogger who nominated you asked.
- Nominate 11 bloggers and ask them 11 different questions.
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog site.
So what did Bella ask me?
Which book would you love to experience as one of the characters?
You know me, my preferred genre is paranormal romance and I’m a very emotionally immersive reader; if an author is worth their salt, I already feel as though I’m in the story! Lol! My three favourite authors – Dianne Duvall, Felicity Heaton and Teresa Gabelman – all have new books out in August and September which means at the moment, I’m re-reading their series. I would love to be a Gifted One and find my own Immortal Guardian to love and cherish forever, or perhaps find my Fated One amongst one of the many paranormal species in Heaton’s Eternal Mates world or work protecting children and find my own vampire hero working as a V.C. Warrior to be my own Protector.
Which “highly regarded” book have you read and thought ‘meh’?
I just just recently read Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. This is a mainstay in the paranormal/urban fantasy world and I was so disappointed that I didn’t love it! I mean, it’s got over eighty-five THOUSAND Goodreads ratings and still has an average star rating 4.05, reading the blurb it sounded right up my alley. What was I missing that everyone else loved?! *sniff* 🙁
Where is your favourite reading spot?
Can I say, sat poolside with something chilled in one hand and my Kindle in the other on a warm sunny Mediterranean island?
I am writing this during our British summer, in other words, it’s August and it’s p*ssing cats & dogs out there while the wind is whipping my garden trees and shrubs into a frenzy.
I’m still reading my Kindle but I’ve got a cuppa (tea) next to me and I’ve got my snuggly socks on. 😉
What factors influence you when signing up to do a review / blog tour?
Every single blog tour that has appeared on Flora’s Musings to date has been for a book that I’ve read and enjoyed or for an author that, although I may not have read their current release, I’ve read books of theirs in the past and have enjoyed.
My weekly Friday Finds feature is the only time where you’ll see reviews for books that I haven’t read.
Which book character would you like to be friends with in real life?
I am such an emotional reader that EVERY character that I connect to I feel I already know. So because of the genres I read, they are all paranormal and have super-human abilities in some way, so perhaps would be nice to have a magical mate that could wave her wand and fill my bookshelves, a loaded lycan that could take me to all the fancy restaurants or a VIP Vamp on my speed-dial to offer to take me to the cinema see the latest Marvel films. 😉
Which forthcoming publication are you most eagerly awaiting?
Do I have to stick to just one? Na, course not…
Tessa (The Mates Series #2) by Teresa Gabelman due out on 9th September (Already pre-ordered my copy!)
Tessa Pride, mate to VC Warrior Jared Kincaid, is doing everything in her power to become a respected Warrior in her own right. Unfortunately, her mate isn’t quite as excited about her passion. Tessa walks into the role with a newfound sense of determination knowing her decisions could end her relationship with the man she loves.
With everything to lose, Tessa steps into the battle of earning the right to walk next to her mate in life, love, and work. Though she is also ready to walk alone if necessary, she will make sure Jared Kincaid regrets that for the rest of his life.
The Mate series delves into the kickass world of the Warriors’ mates and how united, they can make a difference—just like their badass Protectors. Follow along to see how these exceptional women’s newfound freedom affect those around them and which Warrior may or may not support their feisty independent mate’s new and exciting path.
Seduced by a Demon King (Eternal Mates #17) by Felicity Heaton due out on 24th September. (Again eagerly awaiting my copy)
Saddled with a crown he never wanted, King Tegan of the Second Realm of demons is a warrior born for war stuck ruling in a time of peace, bound by the pact that cost his brother his life. Chafed by the ties that have held him shackled to his throne for the last thousand years, Tegan plans an escape from his prison—one stolen night meant to give him a taste of freedom, but one that will lead him to the greatest battle of his life.
A fight to claim the heart of a bewitching fae female who might be his fated mate.
According to many in her clan, and the idiotic incubi who infest the fae town where she lives, Suki puts the suck in succubus. Down on her luck, and in danger of being kicked out of the family she loves, she’s determined to prove her worth by bagging and tagging a powerful male. When she sets eyes on a mysterious, panty-melting demon warrior in a nightclub, things finally seem to be going her way, but his shadowed aura and guardedness warns he won’t be an easy mark.
Seducing him is going to be the fight of her life.
When the battle is done, will the victor have the forever they want, or will this war cost them both everything?
Which is your favourite book series?
I hate this question, it’s like asking which of my children do I love the most…. I can’t answer that, well not at least publicly. 😉
Now, if you ask me which series have I re-read the most it would be Teresa Gabelman’s the Protectors series and Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series with Felicity Heaton’s Eternal Mates series a close third.
Which book character do you hate? Or love to hate?
I wasn’t sure how to answer this; I get frustrated with any character that is TSTL (Too Stupid To Live) hero or heroine, *shyly looks sideways, I think you may know this already* but I love it when the big bad that our protagonist has to battle is written in such a way that you sympathise with them although you don’t agree with the actions they’ve taken. Bran from Donna Grant’s Reapers series is a perfect example; despicable psychopath but you can totally understand what drove him to it.
What do you like best about book blogging?
That’s easy! I love having a platform to gush about my passion – reading! But it’s not just being able to wax lyrical about books it’s that I can shout about the genre I love; paranormal romance.
What do you like least about book blogging?
I really love blogging, however, what I get anxious about is my obsession with Flora’s Musings. I mean, as I am writing this, it’s a beautiful day outside and I should be taking advantage of it but instead, I’m inside typing away on my laptop, adjusting headings, text and links, creating images and scheduling posts. There should be a warning on blogging – Danger This Hobby Can Be Addictive!
Which book you most often recommend to others?
I haven’t got any family or friends in real life that read the same books as I do but I’ve joined a great Goodreads Group – My Vampire Book Obsession – where I recommend books all the time as part of the discussions and challenges. I love it.
So , now onto my nominations.
Blogging can be a daunting abyss, but I’ve found the book blogging community to be warm, welcoming, supportive and full of amazing people; I could have chosen so many more blogs to nominate but for this award I am limited to a mere eleven. ;-( I don’t want anyone to feel obliged to participate, if this isn’t your thing, that’s OK, I just wanted you to know how wonderful I think you are – as the classic British comedy duo Morecambe and Wise said You Bring Me Sunshine.
And these are the 11 bloggers (and a link to their blogs) who bring me sunshine! I haven’t listed them in any particular order but I hope that you take the time to check out their amazing blogs; they’re really good – I promise. 🙂

So Nominees, Here Are My Questions To You 🙂
As a Book Blogger, all my questions are reading and blogging related –
- Which genres do you read the most and why?
- Do you recommend books to family and friends? If so which books/authors have you recommended the most this year?
- Do you have any bookish pet peeves?
- Do you like cliffhanger endings in books? Do you feel differently about cliffhangers in TV shows?
- Have you met any of your favourite authors? If you have, I want all the fangirling details. 😉
- Why did you start blogging?
- Do you schedule your posts in advance?
- Have you ever been on a blogging hiatus, and if so – why?
- Do you take part in the official PR side of book blogging, if you do why and if you don’t why? E.g. blog tours, new release promotions, book blitz, etc.
- What do you think is the best aspect about being a book blogger?
- In your view, what is the worst aspect about book blogging that you wish you’d been warned about?
And that’s my Sunshine Blogger Award post. I had fun answering the questions and coming up with some of my own. I wish I could nominate all the blogs I follow because you all brighten my day.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
