Friday Finds

For The Love Of A Good Book – Friday Finds plus Book Blogger Hop

Hello Avid Readers,

Today is Friday so it’s time for another Friday Finds post. I have found some great reviews around the blogosphere that I want to share with you this week.

I am enjoying being part of the weekly  Book Blogger Hop meme too, hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict, so I’m doing it again today and my answer to this week’s question is at the bottom of this post.

If you are one of my lovely new followers let me just take a moment to explain what my Friday Finds posts are all about. I like to read, my favourite genre is paranormal romance but I’ve also been known to curl up with the odd urban fantasy or paranormal cozy mysteries too. But it’s a big wide literary world out there and I decided back in January that you, my dear followers, might be interested in the reviews about books from other genres to help you find your next favourite book. Ta!Da! My weekly Friday Finds post was born.

Here are some non-paranormal romance books that fellow book bloggers enjoyed reading (in no particular order).

Two (Love by Numbers Book 7) by E.S. Carter from Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews

Christie and Danielle are very passionate about the books they read and want to share that passion with everyone who visits their highly popular blog. They read pretty much anything that interests them and share their reviews as well as taking part in lots of book tours, new release blitz and cover reveals. Danielle absolutely loved this story.

A Ghost in the Glamour: A Linx & Bogie Story by Elizabeth Hunter from Elaine Howlin – Literary Blogger

Elaine’s reviews are always intelligent and easy to read plus her reading tastes are substantially more varied than mine. 😉 I love reading her reviews. Lol! I’ve read paranormal romances by this author but can’t wait to try this one. Oh and as you can see, her blog is also full of beautifully composed photos like the one she created for this book.

Eyes of Ice (Vampire Detective Midnight #2) by J. C Andrijeski from A British Bookworm’s Blog

Jo is a fellow Brit who loves reading but unlike me she reads across the genres and is continually sharing new releases with her followers. She is spreading the reading love and I guarantee that you’ll find something that you’ll want to read. I might even pick up this dystopian tale! Lol!

Brazen and the Beast by Sarah MacLean from Caffeinated Reviewer

Kimberly is a self proclaimed audiobook junkie, avid reader and coffee drinker. She doesn’t limit herself to just reading one genre but reads books from young adult to hot and steamy romances with a healthy love of a good horror or Zombie book. This historical romance certainly ticked all the right boxes for Kimberly and I loved reading Kimberly’s thoughts on it.

And my final review this week is from a tried and trusted book blog…

THINGS YOU SAVE IN A FIRE by Katherine Center from The Bookish Libra

Suzanne is a proofreader by day, book blogger by night and a devourer of books 24/7. She loves reading most genres; contemporary and historical, adult and YA, and has confessed to also enjoying more and more fantasy lately. Her hobbies include: buying and hoarding of books, rambling about books to anyone who will listen and trying to recommend books to her family and friends.

So, that’s my picks for this week. I hope you find a moment or two to click at least one of these reviews yourself – who knows you may just find your next favourite author!

Now on to the Book Blogger Hop meme which is hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict. A question is posted each week, you answer the question and visit others blogs to see what their answers are. Easy!

So this week’s question is:

How do you choose the next book to read? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

This is a great question. I struggle sometimes. Usually I have a look at my challenges and see which book on my TBR pile would check off another task. Then I have a look at my blog calendar and see what I’ve got coming up; there’s not point reading a lengthy tome if I’ve got ARCs due.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this post. I hope you have a good weekend and manage to read (or listen to) a great story.

Happy Reading!

About Me

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog -

  1. I admire those who use blog calendars and stick to them. I just can’t do it, I get distracted by some new book and it messes with the whole schedule.

  2. Eyes of Ice looks pretty good- I might need to check that out!

  3. Totally agree with your approach re: picking what book to read next. It’s honestly the best way to go, you know? We all have a different way of exploring and prioritizing our next reads. This weeks topic was super fascinating.

  4. You have a very sensible approach to reading. I love that you try to read a tbr and a challenge prompt at the same time. 🙂

    1. Thanks x

Eyes of Ice caught my attention of your Friday Finds. I haven’t read that author or series before.

In my early blogging days, reading challenges were a great way for me to know what I should read next, but I found too often a book I was dying to read didn’t sound as appealing when I felt I had to read it for a challenge. I am too much of a mood reader. I do try to prioritize review books, but that can be impacted by my mood too. Otherwise it can affect my enjoyment of a book.

I hope you have a great weekend!
