Hello, my lovelies. Today, not only am I crying over celebrating my daughter’s 18th Birthday but Flora’s Musings is celebrating 🦇 Occult Day 2020! 🦇

I only learned about this special themed day myself last year from fellow blogger Elaine @ Literary Blogger. I read her Occult Day post and was amazed that I hadn’t heard about it before. Well, I suppose my mind has been focused on mini-Flora’s birthday.

However, as a reader of paranormal romances, I’m a bit embarrassed that Occult Day isn’t on my blogging calendar. Well, it will be from now on. 😉

What will I focus on for Occult Day 2020?

In honour of my daughter’s birthday, this year I’m focusing on her favourite supernatural beings – 🧛 Vampires! 🧛

Now, as a reader of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, bloodsuckers feature prominently on my shelves. Therefore, I’ve got some great books and series to recommend.

Every time we pop into town, she makes a beeline to Waterstones to check out the manga section. 😉 She loves this series and not only reads the manga but watches the anime too – in Japanese!

My Vampire Recommendations

Let’s start with some standalone vampire romance books. Of course, I’m going to start with my favourite adult paranormal romance author – Felicity Heaton.

If you prefer to get your teeth stuck into a series, 😉 I’d recommend Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duvall.

The Immortal Guardians Series

Another of my frequent recommendations is The Protectors by Teresa Gabelman. These books have a more adult feel, with grittier content and passionate love scenes.

The Protectors Series

This gritty paranormal romance series follows an elite group of vampire warriors based in Cincinnati, USA. They protect innocents on behalf of the Vampire Council, whether human or those of their own race.

The Protectors is an ongoing series with the recent addition of spin-off books about The Mates.

I had a little look at all the vampire-themed goodies on Etsy too. Here are some of my favourites:

Thanks for visiting Flora’s Musings and celebrating Occult Day 2020 with me. I had lots of fun writing this post (and browsing Etsy 😉 ) and will definitely write another post next year!

Many of my favourite authors write fantastic stories about vampires, ghosts, werewolves and witches. Before you go, check out if YOUR favourite author one of my favourites. 😉

  1. Happy birthday to your daughter! I had no idea Occult day was a thing! May I also recommend the Vampire Huntress Universe By Jeaniene Frost? It’s classic in the vampire UF genre for me ♡

    1. Thanks Mikky. I know! Occult day is definitely going to be an annual thing on Flora’s Musings from now on.
I know we have very similar tastes, so I’ll certainly check out the Vampire Huntress books. Thanks Mikky. x

  2. Happy birthday to mini Flora
When it comes to vampires, I was a big fan of the Anita Blake series, though I haven’t kept up. When it comes to witches, my favourite series is the Hollows from Kim Harrison.

    1. Aww, thanks Shelleyrae. She had a great day. I haven’t read either of those. Thanks for the recommendations.

  3. Great post!! Happy birthday to your daughter.
    I love those vampire pillows!!

    1. Thanks, Elaine, and thanks for the inspiration!
(I know, they’re fab pillows, right?!)
