Hello Avid Readers,
Today is Friday and the last of 2019! It’s time for my final Friday Finds post of the year. Once again, I have found some great book reviews around the blogosphere that I want to share with you this week.
If you are one of my lovely new followers let me just take a moment to explain what my Friday Finds posts are all about. I like to read, my favourite genre is paranormal romance but I’ve also been known to curl up with the odd urban fantasy or paranormal cosy mystery too. BUT it’s a big wide literary world out there and I decided back in January 2019 that you, my dear followers, might be interested in reading reviews about books from other genres to help find your next read. Ta!Da! My weekly Friday Finds post was born.
So, here are some book reviews that my fellow book bloggers have enjoyed reading (in no particular order).
Elaine’s reviews are always intelligent and easy to read plus her reading tastes are substantially more varied than mine. I love reading her reviews. Lol! I’ve yet to read any of the paranormal romances by this author but she’s definitely on my wish list. Oh, and Elaine’s blog is also full of beautifully composed photos that just blow my mind.
Shelleyrae is another fellow book-a-holic, but unlike me, you’ll find great reviews for books covering many different genres from this Aussie book blogger. She also champions Aussie authors and showcases their books as part of her reviews, cover reveals, blog tours and reading challenges. Shelleyrae says that this book is: “A compelling story which offers adventure, suspense, and heart, Cry of the Firebird is a terrific read I’m happy to recommend.”
Yes, yes OK, I know I said no paranormal romance book reviews but the Paranormal Romance Guild are a group who actually read other genres too, so shush and let me continue. 😉 Each review has a different feel to it because the guild a good variety of reviewers on staff which means that you’re bound to find something to tickle your literary taste buds. 😉 Sherry Perkins reviewed this cozy mystery about “the transformative strength of love even after a tragic death, a threat to family integrity and false criminal accusations.”
An avid reader, this amazing book blogger also listens to audiobooks and confesses to opening up the Kindle app to read books just about any moment she has! Kindred spirit, right?! 😉 I love the way she sets out her pros and cons for each book she tells us about. Although this particular mystery thriller only garnered 2 stars she re-iterates: “I don’t think the story was horrible, just flawed. And, of course, that is simply my opinion. As I said above, there are a lot of people out there that loved this book, so if you are interested definitely read it for yourself.”
And my final review this week is from a wonderful blogger that I found through The Write Reads on Twitter only recently.
Drew is a fellow UK book blogger who mostly reads Fantasy and Crime/Thrillers but has also been know to read Post-apocalyptic, Zombie, SFF, Horror and Graphic novels and anything else that catches his eye or interests him apart from YA, Erotica or Romance! Well he has to draw the line somewhere. 😉 Drew really enjoyed this forst in series and said: “the investigation in Closer To Home is compelling, it is a gripping story full of unfolding drama that plays out across the pages, a satisfying series opener and it was the ideal balm to scratch my itch for a quick thriller fix.“
So, that’s my picks for this week. I hope you find a moment or two to click at least one of these reviews yourself – who knows you may just find your next favourite author!
Now on to the Book Blogger Hop meme which is hosted by Billy @ Ramblings of a Coffee Addict. A question is posted each week, you answer the question and visit others blogs to see what their answers are. Easy!
So this week’s question is:
What bookish goodies did you get for the holidays?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
I didn’t get many bookish goodies this Christmas but I did get a few Amazon gift cards and have already added their value to my account! The only problem is, I have sooo many things and books on my wish list that I don’t know where to begin! Lol! 😉
I hope that your festive fortnight was filled with smiles, laughter, love and wonderful surprises.
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read this post. I hope you have a great weekend and manage to read (or listen to) a great book.
