Good morning my lovelies. Welcome to my June 2019 Monthly Wrap Up post.
Sundays are the perfect day for me to sit back and catch up on life – both on and off the blog – so back in April, I decided to write a monthly round up post. I linked up to The Sunday Post which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer (see rules here: Sunday Post Meme) and have done so each month since.
The Sunday Post is a chance for us to share news, to recap the past week on our blogs and showcase books and things we have received. To share with you what is coming up on our blogs for the week ahead and don’t forget, this meme is also the perfect opportunity to check out other bloggers and read some great blogs. So, once you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post.
So what have I been up to this month?
Here in the UK we still have another few weeks left before our schools break up for summer holidays. Boy am I counting the weeks! Lol! 😉 The weather has picked up these last few days and we’re enjoying a heatwave; my patio doors have been open wide most evenings and the smell of barbecues has wafted in the air.
Like so many of you out there, I’ve been having a look at the content of my blog but more about that later. I’ve been taking part in Top 5 Tuesday and answering the Book Blogger Hop question each week and will keep going for as long as my little brain allows. 😉 Although taking part in these weekly memes keeps me busy, I love visiting my fellow bloggers’ sites, the book blogging community is such a wonderful place; love you all.
So what about here on my blog…
- A final update on a completed May Reading Challenge – Cosplay Cuties
- My weekly Friday Finds posts where I share some more fabulous book reviews from my fellow bloggers.
- My Top 5 Tuesdays posts – Début Novels ~ Main Males and Hunky Heroes! ~ Fantasy, Fantasy, Fantasy!
- Author Interviews – Maxym M Martineau
- Shout Outs for New Releases, Cover Reveals and Book Promotions – Death of Darkness ~ Kingdom of Exiles ~ Alpha’s Promise ~ A Grave Death
- And finally some book reviews: Viktor by Teresa Gabelman ~ Kingdom of Exiles by Maxym M. Martineau ~ Corruption by Jennifer Blackstream ~ Dark Alpha’s Embrace by Donna Grant ~ Perfect Mate by Mina Carter ~ Hunted by K.F. Breene ~ Dark Alpha’s Demand by Donna Grant ~ Chaos Falls by Pippa DaCosta ~ Alpha’s Promise by Rebecca Zanetti
As I mentioned, this month I’ve been having a look at the content of my blog. Which posts get the most interest; which ones get viewed, liked or comments on. I know that book reviews are probably the posts that have the least number of interactions but as I’m primarily a paranormal romance book blogger I have decided to keep sharing my thoughts on the books I read. Having said that, I don’t post all of my reviews here on my blog; some of my short reviews only appear on Goodreads and Amazon. I have decided that I want all of my reviews here on Flora’s Musings, so I’ve started copying over my shorter reviews and scheduled them to start appearing in July; look out for Flora’s Mini Review. But what else can you expect from me?
- New Book Releases
- Author interviews and Spotlight posts
- More weekly Friday Finds, Top 5 Tuesdays posts and Book Blogger Hop questions answered
- and of course, lots of book reviews!
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I take part in the Goodreads Annual Reading Challenge and have also joined in with challenges from the book groups I belong to. I thought that I’d use this post to update you on my progress to date in all the challenges that I’m (foolishly) taking part in…
Vampire Wars Team Spike This challenge ended a couple of weeks ago we tied with Team Blade at 207 blood drops. I really enjoyed being on Team Spike with Alison (team captain), Stacey and Elaine and will definitely sign up for it again next year.
Monthly Challenges: June
6 Monthly Challenges:
Poker Face – 1st January to 30th June All Completed! Woo!Hoo!
Own Pace Challenges:
My Bloody Bazaar Games Thread ~ I’ve completed the Knight Fright game, the Swords & Airships one and the Russian Roulette game. This month I started the Monster Mash one.
Ok, so I’m addicted to collecting the Vampire Hearts that we earn for every challenge completed! You don’t blame me though, they’re gorgeous, right?! Lol!
As you know, I review books on this blog that I’ve bought, as well as ARCs (Advance or Early Reader Copy) that I’ve received from authors or publishers both directly and through NetGalley. (I’ve finally got my NetGalley addiction under control.) But I thought that I’d share with you the ARCs that are still on my TBR list.
I’ve stuck to my NetGalley Plan, spread out the release dates of books I’ve requested and limited myself to only requesting a couple per month. (Click the titles for their Goodreads listing)
August Releases ~
October Release ~ Secrets of the House of Chocolate (22nd)
Trying to keep August free. We’ll see how long that lasts! Lol! 😉
Thanks to the wonderful authors, publishers and NetGalley for the opportunities they give me to read books and feed my reading addiction! 😉
The various Facebook groups I belong to have been awash with some great memes and as a woman closer to 50 than 40 this really made me chuckle so, of course, I just had to share it. 😉
So, now you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post.
If you’re taking part too, don’t forget to leave your comment below with a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit your blog and check out what you’ve been up to.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Bye for now. x
