Hello fellow bookworms, today I’d like to share my thoughts about Keras by Felicity Heaton. Book 7 in Felicity’s adult paranormal romance series, Guardians of Hades. My thanks to the author, Felicity Heaton, for the eBook in exchange for a candid review.
Quote from Keras
“He had cut his way through sixteen daemons, using his shadows to eradicate the wretches, keeping them from the Paris gate. Not one of them had put up a fight.
At least, not a fight he had enjoyed. It had been a massacre, too easy for him, lacking the thrill he was chasing tonight. The high that he craved. The pain that he needed.”
My Overall Rating: 5/5
Plot: 5/5 – Flow: 4/5 – Character Development: 5/5 – World Building: 5/5

Keras is darkness. It sustains him. It strengthens him. It offers relief from the pain born of his feelings for a goddess of Olympus, a bewitching and beautiful female placed beyond his reach—one who stole his heart and broke it. Centuries of enduring that pain have left him tired, and the temptation to surrender control to that side of himself grows each day.
Even when he knows that darkness will destroy him.
Enyo has regrets. Hundreds of them. But the one that has plagued her for centuries, is the moment that shattered her friendship with the firstborn of Hades and her own heart with it—a moment that changed her and set her on a new path. With the battle between the sons of Hades and the daemons turning more dangerous for the man she loves, she can no longer stand on the side lines.
It’s time for this goddess of war risk everything to fight for what she wants.
As the battle to save the Underworld and the mortal realm rages to dangerous new heights, will Keras be consumed by the darkness or will Enyo be the light that saves him?

What did I like about Keras?
I’m already a big Felicity Heaton fan. I love her writing style and have read most of her books! Her world building is amazing. The mix of fantasy and reality captures my attention right from the start. I love her characters. They’re never just good or evil but a complex assortment of positive and negative traits and emotions. It’s this combination and attention to detail that always makes her stories feel more realistic for me.
Keras was worth the wait!
Let me explain. I seem to be drawn to dark, deadly and damaged anti-heroes. Keras is the oldest brother and has the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. His often brusque manner and apparent lack of compassion tempted me even more. I relished getting inside his head and enjoyed seeing a different side of him. Although, his darkness was truly terrifying at times. I was left with doubts about Enyo after the last book. However, she turned out to have all the personality traits that I want from a female protagonist. She’s resilient, intelligent, loyal and strives to fight any injustice.
Now we need to mention the s-e-x. 😉
Felicity writes great sex scenes, they’re explicit but she still makes them feel romantic. This is a talent sadly lacking in many books I’ve read over the years. The erotic scenes are balanced beautifully with poignant internal dialogue and heartfelt revelations from Keras and Enyo.
Keras had me hooked and gave me all the feels I crave.
I adored the passionate love scenes. Held my breath during the edge-of-your-seat fight scenes. I was a blubbering mess during the tender and sadder scenes, and I chuckled at the humour and banter. In short, I was gripped from the first page to the last and couldn’t stop reading!
Was there anything I didn’t like?
I absolutely loved everything about this book! (Hence the 5 stars.)
Felicity loves a happy ever after ending for her romantic couples in all her books. So Keras and Enyo aren’t left hanging, unsatisfied. 😉 The immediate threats are dealt with without the need for a life-or-death cliffhanger either. woohoo! However, there are still a couple of story threads that have been running through the whole series that remain unresolved. Felicity has hinted that she’ll tie up those loose ends in a couple of novellas. *squee*
Felicity tries to ensure that new readers or existing forgetful ones aren’t confused or lost reading Keras. Vital information from previous books is weaved seamlessly within these pages. However, as with any series, I think you need to read the other books first.
Basically, what I’m saying is…
I really enjoyed this paranormal romance adventure. I read Greek myths when I was younger and love that they’re the inspiration for this series. With Felicity’s usual twist, of course.
Keras was a fantastic read, keeping me hooked from the very first page! It made me smile, cry and feel all hot and bothered (in a good way). I loved the well-written erotic thrills, kick arse fighting, and the romantic gestures sprinkled throughout this book.
This book has graphic violence and explicit sex as well as some darker themes. Therefore, I’d only recommend this book to adults who are OK reading material of this nature.
Who would I recommend Keras to?
Adult readers who enjoy stories with a “acknowledging the darkness but not letting it rule you” element. Those who want characters with hidden addictions and turmoil and stories exploring the lengths we go for family. And of course, readers who, like me, adore tales about soul saving love with oodles of fire and passion.
