Good morning my lovelies,
Sundays are the perfect day for me to sit back and catch up on life – both on and off the blog – so last month, I decided to write a monthly round up post. I linked up to The Sunday Post which is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer (see rules here: Sunday Post Meme) and decided to do the same for May.
The Sunday Post is a chance for us to share news, to recap the past week on our blogs and showcase books and things we have received. To share with you what is coming up on our blogs for the week ahead and don’t forget, this meme is also the perfect opportunity to check out other bloggers and read some great blogs. So, once you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post.
So what have I been up to this month?
Here in the UK May has two official Bank Holidays – the one at the beginning of the month is May Day, where we celebrate with dancing, drinking and being outdoors and can trace it’s traditions to before Christianity came to our shores. The second bank holiday is at the end of the month started as the Christian festival of Whitsun (marking Pentecost, the seventh Sunday after Easter, and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Christ’s disciples) but was renamed to the more secular title of Late Spring Bank Holiday a number of decades ago. It doesn’t matter what these extra days off are called, it’s always nice to have the time to spend these precious moments with family and catch up with friends – assuming you’re not stuck in Bank Holiday traffic jams! Oh, and read a few books! Lol! 😉
I’ve been browsing the blogosphere this month and I’ve found some more lovely new (to me) blogs to follow. It’s keeping me busy, visiting my fellow bloggers’ sites and once again, I was worried that I was spending more time on other blogs than I was on my own. Lol! However, writing this post has set my mind at ease – I haven’t abandoned you, dear followers, I actually published quite a few posts this month…
- A final update on a completed April Reading Challenge – Cosplay Cuties
- I’m sharing some of my favourite book reviews written by fellow bloggers in my weekly Friday Finds posts.
- Top 5 Tuesdays this month were – Re-reads ~ Magical Creatures ~ Unputdownable Reads!
- Author Highlights – This month it was all about Jeri Westerson! Flora Meets… Jeri Westerson ~ Spotlight On Author Jeri Westerson
- New Releases – Shadows in the Mist ~ Amanda Cadabra and the Flawless Plan
- And finally some book reviews: A Sorceress of His Own by Dianne Duvall ~ Crave by Felicity Heaton ~ The Mint Julep Murders by Angie Fox ~ Amanda Cadabra and the Flawless Plan by Holly Bell
I’ve been planning what I want to share with you next month, some of my ideas have come to fruition and I’ve added a few posts to my schedule already – organised, eh?! Fingers crossed it’ll last. 😉
- New Book Releases
- Author interviews and Spotlight posts
- A final update on my favourite May reading challenge
- More weekly Friday Finds, Top 5 Tuesdays posts and Book Blogger Hop questions answered
- and of course, lots of book reviews!
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I take part in the Goodreads Annual Reading Challenge and have also joined in with challenges from the book groups I belong to. I thought that I’d use this post to update you on my progress to date in all the challenges that I’m (foolishly) taking part in…
Vampire Wars Team Spike I’m enjoying being on Team Spike with Alison (team captain), Stacey and Elaine. Vampire Wars is a reading challenge where each book we read, earns our team points (drops of blood). Part of the challenge is about book covers and for the last couple of months, I’ve been trawling through the freebie books on Amazon to find suitable covers. Lol! So last week, I bit the bullet and signed up to Kindle Unlimited! Lol! Lots of my favourite authors already list their books, so it should pay for itself! Anyway, any recommendations gratefully accepted; I’m on the lookout for Wolf, Bow & Arrow, Knife, Sword, Wand, Broom, Gun or Fire.
6 Monthly Challenges:
Poker Face – 1st January to 30th June
Ok, so I’m addicted to collecting the Vampire Hearts that we earn for every challenge completed! You don’t blame me though, they’re gorgeous, right?! Lol!
As you know, I review books on this blog that I’ve bought, as well as ARCs (Advance or Early Reader Copy) that I’ve received from authors or publishers both directly and through NetGalley. (I’ve finally got my NetGalley addiction under control.) But I thought that I’d share with you the ARCs that are still on my TBR list.
I’ve stuck to my NetGalley Plan, spread out the release dates of books I’ve requested and limited myself to only requesting a couple per month. (Click the titles for their Goodreads listing)
July Releases ~ Soul Keeper (9th)
August Releases ~
September Releases ~ The Immortal City (19th)
October Release ~ Secrets of the House of Chocolate (22nd)
Organised, eh?! So I have plenty of time to read them all. *phew*
Thanks to the wonderful authors, publishers and NetGalley for the opportunities they give me to read books and feed my reading addiction! 😉
And finally this made me smile; I love the humour and, of course, it’s vampire themed so hey, I just had to share it. 😉
So, now you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post.
If you’re taking part too, don’t forget to leave your comment below with a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit your blog and check out what you’ve been up to.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Bye for now. x
