Hello my lovelies,
Last year, I sporadically joined in with Top 5 Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. Luckily, Shanah comes up with the topics a month at a time so that we’ve got some thinking space. I’ve actually managed to think about this week’s topic and gone all out. *yeah me!* 🙂
If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to one of her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list of participants.
This month, Shanah is doing something different. TOP 5 TUESDAY – AUTHORS FROM A-Z SERIES!
Without authors, we wouldn’t have books. And this is the perfect time to spotlight some well loved authors!! I’m always on the lookout for new authors so I have a feeling this is going to increase my already suffocating TBR! lol!Shanah ~ Bionic Book Worm
The lovely Shanah is letting us choose how we make our lists: just authors first names or last names or even a mixture of both. Although she claims not to be the Top 5 police sending any blogger to bookish jail for infractions. I’ve gotta admit that a bookish jail sounds like fun. Unless it’s a dark scary place where there ARE NO BOOKS!!!
... Sorry, had to take a moment …
I remember doing an annual reading challenge way back in 2015 where we had to read books by authors names based on the alphabet. I had a look back at my scribbled notes: some authors I still read, but others were a one-hit-wonder for me.
OK, so on with Top 5 Tuesday. As this is our first week, today I’ll be recommending some authors whose names start with: A, B, C, D, E
I’ve linked the author’s images to my reviews and clicking on the heading will whisk you away to the author’s website where you’ll find all the information about their books, purchase links and lots of other fun stuff too. All my links open in a new tab so that you don’t lose your place here.
OK, so without further ado, on to this week’s list of A To Z Of Authors …
Author A ~ Amelia Hutchins
Amelia is a self-published author. She lives in the great Pacific Northwest with her family. When not writing, she loves everything paranormal and everything romance.
I only found Amelia last year because of the RARE19 book signing event in London but she has quickly become one of my favourite authors (as you will soon see if you read any of my reviews of her books). I love the grittiness of her paranormal romance plots and the darkness she creates. I’ve only read four of her books so far but I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into A Demon’s Dark Embrace VERY SOON …
Author B ~ Holly Bell
Cat adorer and chocolate lover, Holly Bell is a photographer and video maker when not writing. Holly lives in the UK and is a mixture of English, Scottish, Cornish and Welsh, among other ingredients. She is a self-published author.
Her favourite animal is a black cat. Purely coincidental. Of course.
I’m totally in love with the setting and characters that Holly’s created in her cozy paranormal mystery series – Amanda Cadabra – each book contains a new mystery and have read every one that’s been published to date! Holly’s a quintessentially British cozy mystery author.
Author C – ??
I’ve come across my first stumbling block. I’ve read quite a few authors that I would qualify for this one:
Carmen DeSousa – I’ve read lots of her books and short stories but nothing in the last few years.
C.J. Archer – I’ve read The Last Necromancer and absolutely loved it, thought The Medium was OK/good but I don’t feel as though I’ve read enough of her books to consider recommending her.
C. Gockel – I really enjoyed her Urban Fantasy series – An I Bring The Fire – back in 2018 but haven’t read anything else by her since.
Mina Carter – I started reading Mina’s books because she was another attending author at RARE19 in London. I read Perfect Mate and really enjoyed it but only thought Mated by Midsummer was just “OK”. Although I have half a dozen of her ebooks waiting to be read on my Kindle I’d need to read more of them to form an opinion on her writing to be able to recommend her as an author.
Author D ~ Dianne Duvall
*Phew* Back on safer ground. 😉
Dianne Duvall is the New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Immortal Guardians paranormal romance series and The Gifted Ones medieval and time-travel romance series.
In addition to writing romance, Dianne has completed a one-act play (comedy) and teamed up with an award-winning screenwriter to write a spec script for a new situation comedy. Several of her poems have also been published in anthologies.
When she isn’t writing, Dianne is very active in the independent film industry and has even appeared on-screen, crawling out of a moonlit grave and wielding a machete like some of the vampires she creates in her books.
I fell in love with Dianne’s writing after the first book I read over 5 years ago. She even got me reading HISTORICAL ROMANCE!! I have read her Immortal Guardians series more than once and am waiting
impatiently for the next book. 😉 You may remember that I mentioned Death of Darkness in last week’s T5T as giving me a HUGE book hangover. 😭
Author E ~ Hailey Edwards
Hailey writes about questionable applications of otherwise perfectly good magic, the transformative power of love, the family you choose for yourself, and blowing stuff up. Not necessarily all at once. That could get messy.
Believe it or not, I have now actually finished reading The Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy series! I know that Hailey has written lots of other series and although I really enjoyed this one, most of her books are YA or NA (New Adult) which are usually my favourite reads. But we’ll see … 😉
Well, that’s it for me this week but what about you? Have you read anything by these authors? Which authors would be in your list? I’d love to know.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my post. Now that you’ve read mine, why not hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s Top 5 Tuesday.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and read some fantastic books.
Bye for now. x
