My August 2021 Monthly Wrap Up – Holidays, Reviews & Summer Fun!

Hello, my lovelies and welcome to my August 2021 monthly wrap up post.

What have I been up to this month?

I’ve been off on school summer holidays this month! It’s been wonderful although the British weather has been less than scorchio throughout. Lol! 😉 We haven’t been away on holiday but have had a few lovely days. We drove down to Crantock in Cornwall to spend the day with friends on the beach. The temperature was blissful, the sea was inviting and the company was fantastic.

We popped down to Paulton’s Park the other day to check out the new rides. Tornado Springs

GCSE and A level results are in and both my girls got the grades they wanted. I’m so proud of them; it’s been a very tricky couple of years.

The reduction in screen time is here to stay (hence the sporadic blog hopping – sorry). Plus, I’m now an audiobook junkie. Getting my reading fix through my ears instead of my eyes. 😉 I’ve only had a couple of ocular migraines (also referred to as retinal migraines) during August! Woop!Woop!

Coronavirus COVID-19 is still lurking about and keeps mutating! However, here in the UK, our immunisation programme is still going great guns. So far, more than 47 million people have had a first vaccine dose – 87% of over-16s – and nearly 41 million – 75% of over-16s – have had both doses. My family and I have all received our full dose. WoopWoop! Although the UK government introduced new changes to the COVID-19 National restrictions on 19th July meaning that most of the rules relaxed, I’m still being mindful and wearing my mask in large groups.

In bloggish news…

The updating of old posts is an ongoing process. Lol! However, reducing screen time means that it hasn’t been high on my priority list when I do sit in front of my laptop. I’m sure that Flora’s Musings will eventually be SEO friendly. Thank you Yoast SEO plugin. 😉

Please continue to let me know if any pages, posts or links throughout Flora’s Musings either don’t open or you have problems with. Thanks.

What have I been posting?

Now on with the rest of my August 2021 monthly wrap up post. Luckily, I’ve got into the habit of creating content to add to the blog schedule. Feel free to click on anything that you missed this month.

Blog Tours

I love taking part in blog tours. This month I’ve enjoyed being a part of these.

And, of course, this being a book blog, I shared my thoughts about some stories this month:

What other bookish bits and bobs were on the blog this month? 😉

That’s it for my August 2021 Monthly Wrap Up. However, moving forward, what can you expect from me in the month of September?

~ Coming up on Flora’s Musings ~

  • Celebrating more New Book Releases.
  • Hopefully, some author interviews, book tours and spotlight posts.
  • and of course, lots of reviews!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I take part in the Goodreads Annual Reading Challenge but that’s not the only one I take part in. I thought that I’d use these regular wrap up posts to update you on my progress in all the challenges that I’m taking part in …

2021 Audiobook Challenge

Last year I joined the 2020 Audiobook Challenge. I enjoyed it so much that I’ve signed up again this year.

Audiobooks have become my main format since reducing my screen time. Can you believe, I’ve actually hit my goal of 50+ audio listens already! Guess I’ll have to up the stakes and aim for the net level up. 😉 Check it out on My Audiobook Challenge 2021 page.

I’m linking up to The Sunday Post – a weekly meme hosted by the lovely Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer.

About Me

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog -

  1. Glad you hear you enjoyed the month of August! You should definitely consider visiting the beaches in Brazil once the plague has passed. I’ve heard they’re beautiful! Audiobooks are life and once you find the narrators that work for you they become heaven ♡

    1. Thanks Mikky. Brazilian beaches look amazing (I’ve seen photos on Pinterest, IG and Google).

  2. That’s awesome that the vaccinations are going well there. We’re struggling here in the US, obviously. I’m still being really careful too- you just never know.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

    1. We are a smaller country than the US, Greg, but I am impressed with how our grovernment have responded.

I mostly listen to audiobooks in the car. So I was actually happy to start driving to work instead of working from home because it meant I got to listen more. Hope you have a good week!
