Hello my lovelies,
Last year, I sporadically joined in with Top 5 Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. Luckily, Shanah comes up with the topics a month at a time so that we’ve got some thinking space. I’ve actually managed to think about this week’s topic and gone all out. *yeah me!* 🙂
If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to one of her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list of participants.
This month, Shanah is doing something different. TOP 5 TUESDAY – AUTHORS FROM A-Z SERIES! I 💜love💜 this idea and can’t wait to get stuck into this week’s recommendations!
Without authors, we wouldn’t have books. And this is the perfect time to spotlight some well loved authors!! I’m always on the lookout for new authors so I have a feeling this is going to increase my already suffocating TBR! lol!Shanah ~ Bionic Book Worm
The lovely Shanah is letting us choose how we make our lists: just authors first names or last names or even a mixture of both. So I’ll be using the letter prompts for a mix of both first and last names because it’s easier! 😉
This is our third week, (I can’t believe how quickly the month is going) so today, I’ll be recommending some authors whose names start with: K, L, M, N and O
I’ve linked the images to my reviews, where you’ll find all the information about the books, purchase links and lots of other fun stuff too. All my links open in a new tab so that you don’t lose your place here. OK, so without further ado, on to this week’s list of A To Z Of Authors …
Author K ~ K.F. Breene
K.F. Breene is a Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Washington Post, Amazon Most Sold Charts and #1 Kindle Store bestselling author of paranormal romance, urban fantasy and fantasy novels. With over three million books sold, when she’s not penning stories about magic and what goes bump in the night, she’s sipping wine and planning shenanigans. She lives in Northern California with her husband, two children and out of work treadmill.
It was Kate’s Warrior Chronicles that got me reading epic fantasy. I love how she writes her characters, especially the female protagonists who all have oodles of gumption and show all those personality traits that I crave in my fiction. I haven’t read every series or books that she’s written (many can be read for free using your Kindle Unlimited subscription), but the ones that I have, I’ve rated 4 or 5 stars!
Author L ~ Juliet Lyons
Juliet Lyons is an Amazon bestselling author from the UK. She got her big break on the global storytelling site Wattpad back in 2015 when her Bite Nights series was picked up by romance imprint, Sourcebooks Casablanca. She has since published Sinless, a standalone title, with Tule Publishing. When Juliet isn’t writing about vampires and ghosts, she enjoys reading all kinds of books and spending time with her family. She is an avid Potterhead who hopes to someday work for the Ministry of Magic.
I totally fell in love with the characters and story line in her paranormal romance series Bite Nights. It had an original premise and a gripping story arc with wonderfully written characters, drama as well as some light humour. I was emotionally engage with each one!
Author M ~ Montana Ash
Montana Ash is a self-confessed book junkie. Although she loves reading all genres from romance to crime fiction to sci fi, her not-so-guilty pleasure is paranormal romance. Alpha men, just a little bit damaged, and Alpha women who don’t seem to know they need looking after, are a favourite combination of hers. Throw in some steamy sex scenes, a touch of humour, and a little violence and she is in heaven!
Her overactive (and overindulged) imagination could only take so much before the many voices wanted out. Thus, Montana’s journey into the wonderful world of writing.
She is a scientist by day, having grown up in country New South Wales, Australia. Writing about ancient knights, demons and shapeshifters is such a delicious contradiction to her day job in the laboratory, that she doesn’t see the voices stopping anytime soon!
This time last year, I had no idea who Montana Ash was, then a friend of mine recommended the Elemental Paladin series. The story in this book just blew me away! I devoured it; I loved Ms Ash’s writing style, the pace she set for her story and the balance she created in her gripping plot-line. The characters she created are complex souls that exhibit all the traits that I crave; intelligence, camaraderie, humour and a potential for soul deep love. This story brought out do many emotions while I was reading it; fear, fury, yummy tingles and yes, I did blubber like a baby at times too but there was also plenty of humour and banter that made me chuckle out loud.
Author N ~ Neil Gaiman
Neil Gaiman is an English author of short fiction, novels, comic books, graphic novels, audio theatre, and films. He is best known for the comic book series The Sandman and novels Stardust, American Gods, Coraline, and The Graveyard Book.
As a child and a teenager, Gaiman read the works of C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Lewis Carroll, Mary Shelley, Rudyard Kipling, Edgar Allan Poe, and Alan Moore.
Gaiman also wrote episodes of the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who, during Matt Smith’s as the Doctor.
I haven’t read lots and lots of Gaiman’s books, but I’ve really enjoyed the ones I have. I like the way his imagination works, how he can turn the mundane and ordinary into something more and extraordinary or make me look at things in a different way.
I’ve come across my second stumbling block during this month-long meme. I’ve got quite a few authors on my shelves that I would qualify for this one but I haven’t read any extensively:
Lisa Olsen: I read quite a few of her books back in 2015 as many of her first-in-series were free to download and rated them 4 stars. The only series that I progressed further into was The Company which started off really good but my interest dwindled by book 3 and haven’t picked up any of her books in the last 4 years.
Casey Odell: I read and really enjoyed her Cursed Magic series back in 2013/14 and devoured all three books available at the time rating them 4 stars but haven’t read anything by her since.
John O’Reilly: I really liked Grumpy Old Wizards when I read it back in 2015 but haven’t read the rest of the books in the series.
Well, that’s it for me this week but what about you? Have you read anything by these authors? Which authors would be in your list? I’d love to know.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my post. Now that you’ve read mine, why not hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s Top 5 Tuesday.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and read (or listen to) some fantastic books.
Bye for now. x
