So, it’s the first day of January again and lots of people are busy making New Year’s Resolutions. Are you?
How many of these look familiar? I know that the first couple, lose weight and get fit are ALWAYS something that I say to myself each January!
Last year, as part of my Winter Solstice/Yule celebration, my friends and I made our own promises as a thank you for all the blessings that we had received the previous year. Beforehand we had all agreed that although our promises would be personal to each of us, the effects or consequences of them should benefit others and/or the environment.
If you remember, I promised to shop conscientiously.
Well, I did. I paid more attention to where things came from, if items were ethically sourced, had fair trade logos, were organically produced, had a low carbon footprint, were locally produced in season, that sort of thing…
It’s the little things that we can do each and every day that can cause the greatest change and I plan to continue my promise again this year.
