Derrick is one of the creatus, created beings who have lived on the earth for more than four thousand years. Many questions surround the origin of these sentient beings who are stronger than humans, eat differently, and live longer. But they were created just as we were, maybe even before us. It is from them we obtain our fairy tales--and our nightmares. They are the reason we believe in superheroes--and monsters. Because...they exist.

In the past, they kept the human race safe from an anonymous distance. But now Derrick must come out of the darkness to save a woman he has no business loving, even if doing so may threaten his entire race.

Creatus (They Exist) The Prequel is now included in Creatus Book One and in the Creatus box set

The Creatus series is not your normal paranormal's a realistic supernatural romantic suspense based on the myths you've heard your entire life. Prepare to believe...

What did I think about it?

I really liked this “prequel” – I will be putting the Creatus series on my wish list.

This novella was well written. I found the writing style easy to read and the plot easy to follow. Creatus – They Exist sets up the series nicely. Both answering questions about the world Ms DeSousa has created and about the main protagonists that she introduced us to here. However, she leaves a few mysteries ready to be revealed in the next or later books.

This book also includes the first 2 chapters of the next book “Creatus” at the back but neither end on a gaping cliffhanger which is great news for me!! (I hate major cliffhangers!

I will be looking out for more from Carmen DeSousa. Keep reading to find out more about her.

About Carmen DeSousa

Author - Carmen DeSousa

Hi, I'm Carmen!

A reader and writer since I could hold a pen and paper, it was only natural I would eventually start writing for others and, of course, be a large advocate for other writers. My taste in reading includes everything from sweet and silly, to sensual and thrilling. The only thing I will not read is anything extremely graphic in nature, whether it is in the form of a physical attack or sexual in nature. I have a great imagination — that’s why I read — so I don’t need every detail spelled out for me.

My writing is pretty much the same. There are very few topics that I am not willing to take on as an author. Although it may be a tad misleading — especially to potential male readers — I write what I call modern-day fairy tales. Think about it ... all those fairy tales we read as a child were anything but mild. What we call a fairy tale often started off as an abused or tragedy-stricken child.

Well, I take that concept and what many people deal with in real, modern-day life and attempt to help my protagonists find a way out of their tragedies and find their happily ever after. Because, let’s face it, isn’t that what we are all trying to do — find our happily ever after?
