One death, one pledge, one price to pay!
There’s nothing better than a walk amongst the trees with the man I love. So, how dare someone disrespect the sanctity of life and my forest along with it!
With the body of a murdered young man placed at my feet, there’s not a chance on Earth, I’m not using all the power at my disposal to find the killer. Even if that means I have to put on hold my quest to discover the magical curse that plagues my family.
I’ll fight to the end to discover the truth, but what do I do when the man I love wants to fight for me?
I’m a pawn in a game I’m only just beginning to comprehend, but I’m not the only one.
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed will love this modern take on witchcraft and Welsh mythology.
The Rune Witch Mysteries is a supernatural mystery/urban fantasy crossover, with a touch of supernatural romantic suspense thrown in.
This book is for anyone who loves:

Hidden is the second book in a new series – Rune Witch Mysteries. An urban fantasy, paranormal mystery series that blends our modern ideas about witchcraft and magic with Welsh mythology. Hidden is a story (approx 140 pages) set in modern-day Wales, UK. Our protagonists are rune witch, Summer Daniels, and her long time boyfriend, Thomas Heart. Thomas is human and a master in the martial art of Krav Magna. This series is filled with a host of supernatural beings including house fairies, goblins and witches.
What did I like about Hidden?
Over the past year, I’ve definitely become a Victoria DeLuis fan. Her writing style is very easy to read, love the way she crafts her stories, the pace of her books, the intelligence of her plots and how they evolve.
The urban fantasy world that she’s building in this series has ignited my interest.
It’s a wonderful mix of fantasy and reality. Victoria uses the first chapter to remind us of our main characters, their relationship, the situation they’re in plus BAM! a murder mystery to solve!
The fight scenes were so well written that I was actually holding my breath. I also found myself scratching my head trying to solve the clues to the murder and work out the mystery. I thought that the romance between Summer and Thomas was first-class.
In fact, I love that Summer and Thomas are in a strong stable relationship having been together for 8 years.
Their love, companionship, banter and loyalty to each other feels very real. This attention to detail adds a further dimension to the story.
My intellect enjoyed the twists and turns that Victoria took us on. However, I wasn’t ever sure how things were going to pan out. Being uncertain which clues related to the murder case and which to the ongoing “Daniels family curse” mystery. However, I couldn’t help turning the pages to find out.
Confession time.
There were a couple of scenes in Hidden that brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. However fear not, avid readers, this is no romantic weepy. There’s plenty of tension and action too. Like most Brits, I do love a bit of banter and this story has plenty of that as well.
Was there anything I didn’t like?
Nope. I enjoyed every page. My only gripe was that it wasn’t longer! I was enjoying being on the trail with Summer and Thomas in their amazing world of magic, mystery and adventure. I was greedy for more! Lol!
The murder mystery aspect in each of the Rune Witch Mysteries books are concluded by the end of each one. However, the running background mystery of the “Daniel Family Curse” is left to continue through the whole series.
Victoria ensures her new readers aren’t lost by weaving any pertinent information into this book. However, I fear you’d miss certain things jumping in cold. For example the nuances of knowing the existing characters. Understanding the dynamics of relationships and the ongoing “family curse” plotline.
Basically, what I’m saying is…
I really loved this tale. It had everything that I look for in a 5-star book; mystery, action, magic, humour and even a sprinkling of romance.
There are no explicit or graphic violent or sexual scenes. Therefore I feel comfortable recommending this book to anyone who likes reading paranormal mysteries.
I’d recommend this book to those who of you who love a mystery to solve, enjoy fantasy adventure themes and don’t mind a bit of romance thrown in.

Rune Witch Mysteries by Victoria DeLuis
I’m Summer Daniels. Friend to few. Foe to many. And one angry witch.
There’s no rest for the wicked, or, at least, that’s what they say. From a murdered house fairy, to heartless goblins, and untrustworthy fairy folk, I sure have my work cut out for me.
As soon as one case is solved another lands on my doorstep. But the biggest mystery of all is that of my family curse.
I’ll fight to the end to discover the truth, but what do I do when the man I love wants to fight for me? What do I do when he’s threatened?
The cards are stacked against me, but I’m Summer Daniels, Rune Witch of the Ogham Faith, and Hell hath no fury like an angry Witch.
