Flora Reviews…. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts about Shifting Dreams by Elizabeth Hunter. The first book in her new paranormal mystery series, Cambio Springs.

What’s this book about?

Shifting Dreams is a paranormal mystery novel (approx 260 pages) about Jena, a single mum with a secret. It’s the first full-length story in Elizabeth Hunter’s new series, Cambio Springs Mysteries.

Welcome to Cambio Springs! Population? Well, you could say that it… varies. In this small desert town, secrets bubble up from the desert floor, and history is written on the canyon walls. Seven friends will gather at the crossroads, because in Cambio Springs, everything—and everyone—changes. In a town populated by shape shifters, tradition and loyalty hold the community together, but when change comes from the outside, secrets are revealed, friendship is tested, and more than a few claws come out.

The Synopsis:

Somedays, Jena Crowe just can’t get a break. Work at her diner never ends, her two boys are bundles of energy, and she’s pretty sure her oldest is about to shift into something furry or feathery. Added to that, changes seem to be coming to the tiny town of Cambio Springs—big changes that not everyone in the isolated town of shapeshifters is thrilled about.

Caleb Gilbert was looking for change, and the quiet desert town seemed just the ticket for a more peaceful life. He never counted on violence finding him, nor could he have predicted just how crazy his new life would become.

When murder rocks their small community, Caleb and Jena will have to work together. And when the new Chief of Police isn’t put off by any of her usual defenses, Jena may be faced with the most frightening change of all: lowering the defenses around her carefully guarded heart.

Shifting Dreams is the first novel in Cambio Springs, the new paranormal romance series from Elizabeth Hunter, author of the best-selling Elemental Mysteries series.

What did I think about it?

I’m already a fan of Ms Hunter’s books. Her writing style, the characters she creates, and the way she unfolds her stories to us. As the first full-length book in this series, it didn’t let me down. I was transported to the desert town of Cambio Springs.

Shifting Dreams has a wonderful contemporary romance running along side a murder mystery with the added paranormal twist on top. The story made me laugh and cry. Ms Hunter has filled Cambio Springs full of interesting people. I can’t wait for more from this series.
