I'm bound to a demon.
For my entire life, I avoided magic at all costs. Now, I'm responsible for a demon who wields magic more powerful than the toughest mage or sorcerer.
Demons are evil.
That's what my textbooks say. That's what I see. He's ruthless, he's temperamental, he's cold. But he protects me without fail. I wonder if he's hiding a heart behind his hostility.
My demon is a monster.
Whether he's heartless or not, my contract with him is illegal and beyond dangerous. Together, we must find a way to return him to his own world before anyone discovers our secret. If that wasn't bad enough, I've come to realize something else:
My demon isn't the only monster I should be worried about.

What did I think about it?
Demon Ettiquette? It’s A Steep Learning Curve. 😘
Annette Marie has become a tried and trusted author with her interlinking Guild Codex series. Her writing style is polished, intelligent and easy to sink into. I’m captivated by her world of Mythics, demons, magic, danger and secrecy. The characters that Annette has created for this world are diverse with multiple layers just waiting for us to delve into.
Slaying Monsters for the Feeble is the second story in the series, The Guild Codex: Demonized or book #7 in the whole Guild Codex Universe depending on how you decide to play it.
However, you can start listening to it without worrying about spoilers or needing to know stuff from The Guild Codex: Spellbound books. Annette weaves any vital info into this story. Having said that, I really think you should get them all. They are rather fabulous! 😘
Our heroine is a self-confessed book nerd and exhibited many of the personality traits that I love.
Robin is a young woman who has been kept away from the practical side of being a Mythic by her parents. Therefore, she isn’t your usual kickass urban fantasy heroine. 😘 However, Robin is resilient and has a wonderful sense of humour, the exchanges with her demon, Zylas had me chuckling many times. She’s been thrust into the dangerous Mythic world feet first. There are HUGE gaps in Robin’s knowledge and her ignorance and naivete frustrated the hell out of me at times. However, I love that she’s seeking to rectify that – and quickly. Fantastic! I’m looking forward to seeing her grow and mature into the formidable heroine I know she can become.
Cris Dukehart’s performance was fantastic.
I liked the pace at which Cris read the story and her slight tonal adjustment during the different emotional scenes. She gave each character a slightly different voice meaning that I wasn’t confused about who was speaking. Cris also seemed to capture Robin’s timid personality, her fear and frustrations shone through.
Annette doesn’t leave us with nasty cliffhangers. Woop!
Don’t get me wrong, there are still lots of mysteries left to unravel. However, Robin situation isn’t left hanging dangerously in a life-or-death scene. We’ve met some new characters who I’m looking forward to getting to know as well as cameos from some favourites from the Mythic world. I’m keen to find out how the events in this story will affect things in the linked series and what Robin and her demon will do next.
Slaying Monsters for the Feeble had all the elements that I look for in a gripping story.
It has a great plot, with plenty of action and conflict, but with enough humour to keep me engaged.
I’d recommend Slaying Monsters for the Feeble to fans of mystery stories. Especially those who enjoy urban fantasy settings.

The Guild Codex: Demonized by Annette Marie
Meet Robin Page: outcast sorceress, mythic history buff, unapologetic bookworm, and the last person you’d expect to command the rarest demon in the long history of summoning. Though she holds his leash, this demon can’t be controlled . . . but can he be tamed?
Don’t look at the demon . . . don’t talk to the demon . . . don’t touch the demon . . .
The Guild Codex Universe includes four series: Spellbound, Demonized, Warped, and Veiled for a total of 16+ books and 3 bonus stories. They can be read in publication order, chronological order, as individual series, or in Annette’s recommended order.
