My #Blogtober a.k.a. 🎃 31 Days of Halloween 🎃
Hello, my spooktacular lovelies. As an audiobook blogger who’s passionate about paranormal romance, cosy paranormal mystery and urban fantasy, most of my reviews fit perfectly with this time of year. However, I’ve joined in with #Blogtober this year which is a daily blogging challenge. This means that I’m trying to mix it up with some suitably Halloween-y book tags, memes and discussion posts too this month.
I haven’t ever tried to post every day before but I’ll do my best to keep it interesting.
Welcome to day 22 of 🎃 31 Days of Halloween 🎃 my version of #Blogtober. It’s time for another tag! Robin @ Paperbacks and Planners came to the rescue again. As soon as I saw this on her amazing blog, I knew the Halloween Book Tag 2021 would be perfect for today’s post.

CARVING PUMPKINS | WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU CARVE UP AND LIGHT ON FIRE?
Woah, a harsh question to start us off. I’m very careful about the choice of book I read. If I’m not enjoying a story, I stop. I’ve only got four books on my Goodreads “Did Not Finish (DNF)” shelf.

TRICK OR TREAT | WHAT CHARACTER IS A TRICK AND WHAT CHARACTER IS A TREAT?
I’m going to take this one literally. I love the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne and one of my favourite characters is Oberon, our protagonist’s faithful wolfhound. He lights up every scene he’s in and, boy, does he love his meat treats.

However, as soon as I read this question one book in the series immediately sprang to mind: Tricked. In this story Atticus asks the Navajo trickster god, Coyote, for help.
🧡 Treat: Oberon
😜 Trick: Coyote
The Iron Druid Chronicles
The Iron Druid Chronicles is a series of urban fantasy novels, written by Kevin Hearne and published by Del Rey Books. All the books including short stories have recorded Audiobooks narrated by Luke Daniels (for the US) and Christopher Ragland (for the UK market).
The series is set in our world (the first couple of books are set in Tempe, Arizona) where supernatural creatures exist, such as witches, vampires, werewolves, as well as various gods and goddesses from the world’s mythologies. The series is told in the first-person point-of-view of Atticus O’Sullivan (aka. Siodhachan O Suileabhain), a Druid who owns and runs an occult bookshop, Third Eye Books and Herbs, as he gets embroiled in the day-to-day struggle of Gods and Goddesses and other supernatural creatures.

CANDY CORN | WHAT BOOK IS ALWAYS SWEET?
I suppose the answer to this question depends on your perspective. Should I choose a sweet cosy romance? A story that melts my heart and gives me all those gooey feelings? Well, 1 out of 2 isn’t bad, eh? I’m in Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians’ world for this choice: Phantom Embrace. Yuri Sokolov was born with the ability to see spirits, but he knows better than to make contact with them. Now he’s a lethal immortal who kills vampires. Cat Seddon, is the woman who haunts his home and his dreams.

GHOSTS | WHAT CHARACTER WOULD YOU LOVE TO VISIT YOU AS A GHOST?
I would hate for one of my favourite characters to die and become a ghost. Luckily, my shelves contain quite a few stories that feature ghosts (see above). I think I’d like to be visited by Walt Marlow, the charming ghost who haunts Marlow House.

DRESSING UP IN COSTUME | WHAT CHARACTER WOULD YOU WANT TO BE FOR A DAY?
Questions like this are always tough. There aren’t many book characters I’d actually want to switch places with because their lives are usually pretty intense. I really connected with Katherine, our protagonist in Runaway Fate, so perhaps I’d dress up as her.
FAVOURITE SCARY MUST-READ FOR HALLOWEEN
I actually just wrote a whole discussion post about why we like to scare ourselves and made some recommendations perfect for Halloween!

IF YOU COULD FIND ANYTHING, FROM ANY BOOK, IN YOUR TRICK OR TREAT STASH, WHAT WOULD YOU HOPE TO FIND?
Well, Ivy House has a wonderful attic with some amazing treasures. I’d steer clear of the killer dolls, but everything else is great!

IN WHICH FICTIONAL WORLD WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TRICK OR TREATING?
Felicity Heaton has created an amazing world for her Eternal Mates series. Sometimes the action takes place in our mortal world, while in others we’re whisked away to fantastical realms where we meet all manner of creatures and beings. I’d quite like to visit one of the towns in the free realm and have some trick or treating fun. 😘
Eternal Mates by Felicity Heaton
Step out of Vampirerotique (London Vampires series) and into the wider world of powerful dark elves, immortal demon kings, sexy shape-shifters, lethal fae, wicked vampires, dark sorceresses, light witches and the demon-hunting organisation, Archangel… where portals link realms both terrifying and fantastical, and men are willing to risk all to claim the hearts of their eternal mates.

WHAT BOOK VILLAIN WOULD YOU NOT LIKE TO MEET ALONE IN A DARK ALLEY ON HALLOWEEN?
*shiver* I wouldn’t want to meet any of them! I’m no kick-arse heroine!

WOULD YOU RATHER DRESS UP AS A VAMPIRE, ZOMBIE, WEREWOLF, OR A SHADOWHUNTER?
Am I the only person in the world who hasn’t read/watched Shadowhunters? Perhaps it’s an age thing. I’d probably choose a vampire because they’re my favourite species and probably the simplest costume – just buy a pair of fangs. 😘

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HALLOWEEN CANDY?
I’m changing this to Halloween Food because there aren’t any sweeties only available at this time of year. I love eating toffee apples or drinking mulled cider at this time of year.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read my post The Halloween Book Tag 2021.
I’ve had fun answering these 11 questions. Consider yourself tagged if you want to do it too this year! But drop me a comment so that I can visit and read your answers.
Before you go, you can keep up to date with all things #Blogtober on my specially created page.

Let the Halloween season continue!
Bye for now,
Flora x

I loved all your answers, but especially the one for WHAT BOOK VILLAIN WOULD YOU NOT LIKE TO MEET ALONE IN A DARK ALLEY ON HALLOWEEN? LOL, I’m the same, there isn’t a single villain I would want to meet! And Toffee apples… yummy!
Love this tag and great answers!
Thanks Caro
