Fun Q&A with Dianne Duvall

Flora: Hi Dianne, welcome once again to Flora’s Musings.

Dianne: Hi, Flora! Thanks so much for helping me celebrate the release of THE PURVELI. I’m very happy to be here today.😊

Flora: I used to say that I didn’t read sci-fi. That was before I found out you were releasing one and I read The Lasaran. It was fantastic! You captured me and threw me into deep space and I loved every minute of it – the Aldebarian Alliance series has me hooked.

Dianne, what age were you when you read your first science fiction story and can you remember what inspired you to pick it up? Did you even enjoy it or was it a “miss”?

Dianne: I’ve been a voracious reader ever since the second grade and have always particularly enjoyed stories that are adventurous. I picked up the first science fiction story I read when I was a teenager. Unfortunately, that first sci-fi book was a miss… so much so that I actually didn’t read another for years. LOL. But I LOVE sci-fi movies. The concept of venturing into the great unknown has always appealed to me. So when sci-fi romance took off, I couldn’t resist diving in and giving sci-fi another chance. I’ve been devouring it ever since. 🙂

Flora: I know existing Aldebarian Alliance fans like me will be VERY excited by this next book. I love seeing the overall series story evolve and fill out. But, can The Purveli be read in isolation for those not familiar with the series?

Dianne: Yes. Every book in this series can be read as a stand-alone. It follows fifteen women from Earth who are being ferried from Earth to the planet Lasara when their ship is attacked. Each woman will have her own adventure. So readers who haven’t read the first two won’t be lost if they pick this one up.

Flora: At this point, with The Purveli being book three, do you know how many books will be in Aldebarian Alliance series? Are there any characters desperately clamoring at you to get their story told?

Dianne: Right now, it looks like there will be fifteen stand-alone novels in the series. But it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the Aldebarian Alliance didn’t produce a spin-off/related series or two. I really loved the Segonian crew in the second book and would like to see more of those guys find their HEA. The Yona intrigue me, too. And even though we’ve only seen glimpses of them, the Akseli crew has been on my mind a lot.

As for which character is clamoring the loudest for his story to be told, you’ll find out in the sneak peek into Book 4 that I included in THE PURVELI. 😉

Flora: Dianne, I know that whatever romance sub-genre you’re currently writing in is the one you tend to read in your spare time. I’d love to know what books you read while you were writing The Purveli?

Dianne: Yep. That’s one of my writing quirks. I like to read whatever genre and subgenre I’m currently writing. It helps me stay in that mindset. And while I don’t recall exactly which books I read while writing THE PURVELI, these are the ones that came to mind: Lindsay Buroker’s FALLEN EMPIRE series, Laurann Dohner’s VESLOR MATES series, Mina Carter’s ALIEN AI’S MARINE, Ann Aguirre’s STRANGE LOVE, Kelsey Nicole Price’s THE CYBORG CHRONICLES, and Ruby Lionsdrake’s MANDRAKE COMPANY series.

Flora: Thank you, Dianne, for answering my questions and for writing such stellar stories.

Dianne: Thank you for the fun interview, Flora. I hope you and your readers will enjoy THE PURVELI!

Thanks for visiting, Deborah. I haven’t hated any of her books so far, not even a “meh”.

Thanks Crystal. Lol! I’m over the moon that Dianne’s planned one for each of the female Earthlings too.

Lol! I’m hooked on the Aldebarian Alliance but I haven’t stepped out into the wider world of sci-fi romance yet.
