Monthly Wrap Up

The Sunday Post @ Flora’s Musings…

Hello my lovelies. Welcome to my April 2019 Monthly Wrap Up post.

Sundays are the perfect day for me to sit back and catch up on life – both on and off the blog – so I’ve decided to write a monthly round-up post today and link it up to The Sunday Post, a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.

The Sunday Post is a chance for us to share news, to recap the past week on our blogs and showcase books and things we have received. To share with you what is coming up on our blogs for the week ahead and don’t forget, this meme is also the perfect opportunity to check out other bloggers and read some great blogs. So, once you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post.

So what have I been up to this month?

We’ve had Easter and a lovely long weekend. The weather started off a bit temperamental but pulled it off in the end with some warmer, sunny days. It’s always nice to have the time to spend these precious moments with my family and catch up with friends.

I’ve been browsing the blogosphere much more this month too and I’ve found lots of lovely new (to me) blogs to follow. It’s keeping me busy and I was worried that I was spending more time on other blogs than I was on my own. However, writing this post has set my mind at ease – I haven’t abandoned you, dear followers, I actually published quite a few posts this month…

I’ve been planning what I want to share with you next month, some of my ideas have come to fruition and I’ve added a few posts already to my schedule…

  • New Book Releases
  • Author interviews and Spotlight posts
  • A final updates on the completed April reading challenge
  • More weekly Friday Finds posts
  • and of course, lots of book reviews!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I take part in the Goodreads Annual Reading Challenge and have also joined in with challenges from the book groups I belong to. I thought that I’d use this post to update you on my progress to date in all the challenges that I’m (foolishly) taking part in…

Good grief! What was I thinking?! Lol!

As you know, I review books on this blog that I’ve bought, as well as ARCs (Advance or Early Reader Copy) that I’ve received from authors or publishers both directly and through NetGalley. (I’ve finally got my NetGalley addiction under control.) But I thought that I’d share with you the ARCs that are still on my TBR list.

These books aren’t being released until June, so I’ve still got plenty of time to read them. *phew* Thanks to the wonderful authors, publishers and NetGalley for the opportunities they give me to read books and feed my reading addiction! 😉

And finally this made me smile; it’s why I publish book reviews and I just had to share it with you.

So, now you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s The Sunday Post. If you’re taking part too, don’t forget to leave your comment below with a link to your Sunday Post so I can visit your blog and check out what you’ve been up to.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Bye for now. x

About Me

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog -

  1. I’m quite terrible at sticking to reading challenges, probably because I’m a huge mood reader.
I’m glad you had a lovely Easter weekend, mine was fun too!
    Have a wonderful week, Flora!

    1. Thanks Lynn, I wish I didn’t sign up to as many as I do but I can’t seem to help myself! Lol! Hope you have a great reading week.

  2. That sounds nice you got to discover some new blogs. Sounds like you had a nice Easter weekend. You sure joined a bunch of challenges and I hope you do well with them. I like joining some challenges, although i do limit myself to a few each year. Your new ARCs look good. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Lola. Yes now I’ve got my NetGalley addiction under control it’s time to tackle my challenge one lol! Hope you have a great week too.

  3. I love the look of those ARCs. I enjoy Rebecca Zanetti but haven’t read that series. I am reviewing Kingdom also. Have a great week!

    Here is my Sunday Post

    1. It’s the cover of Kingdom that drew me in, actually Anne 🙂

  4. So many challenges! I can never go through with them LOL. I only participate in the Goodreads one.
    Genesis @ Whispering Chapters

  6. You are doing so many challenges, oh dear. I already feel kind of overwhelmed with the few I am doing throughout the year. But your list? Respect! Thank you for sharing your books. They look good and I hope you will have fun reading them.

    Best wishes

    1. I’ve got to be honest, Vi, the Goodreads group who set the majority of the challenges I do, create beautiful “vampire hearts” they members collect – it’s quite addictive! Lol!

  7. Your vamprire wars team challenge sounds cool! Now I feel I have to rewatch some of my favorite Buffy episodes. Lol.

    Kingdom of Exiles looks great!

  8. It’s so much fun to visit other blogs in the blogosphere! It sounds like you’ve had a fantastic month in posts. I hope you enjoy your reads!

    1. Thanks Crystal, you too. X

  9. I always tend to overdo it on the reading challenges too! So many books, so little time…though this year has so far been MUCH better than last year. Good luck!

    1. Liz, I think I’m worse this year than I have been for a while! Lol! I blame the Goodreads group I joined last October. 😉

  10. That is a lot of challenges!
I enjoy finding new blogs to follow, I browse through feedly whenever I have a few minutes spare or while watching tv.

    Have a great reading week

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one, Shelley. 😉 Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fab reading week too. x

  11. Hi Flora 🙂 I’ve been eyeing The Dark Protector Series by Rebecca Zanetti! I’ve heard great things about it, and really enjoyed her Sin Brothers Series! I want to get more involved in reading challenges this year, and it looks like you are doing a lot of different ones. How fun! I’m glad you had a great Easter!!! Happy Reading!

    1. Thanks, Lindy. I’m hoping that I’m not going to get too lost as I haven’t read the previous Dark Protectors books. Eek!

  13. Welcome to the Sunday post and thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m slowly but surely working on my Netgalley addiction. Some weeks I’m more successful than others, lol!

    1. Thanks for the warm welcome. You are not alone in your addiction, there seem to be a lot of us! Lol! x

  14. I loved Spike from Buffy! Do you know he does audiobook narration now? He did Lord of Shadows and Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare and I absolutely adored it!

    1. Yes, he also narrates The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I’ve listened to the first 2 books and think James nails it!

  15. Thank you for stopping by my Sunday Post! Getting my Netgalley addiction under control is something I’m really working on.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. I know, Tina, it’s so dangerous. Luckily there don’t seem to be as many books in my favourite genre of adult paranormal romance on NetGalley at the moment *phew* breathing space. Lol!

  16. That’s a lot of challenges! Good luck! *two thumbs up*

Mmmmm…Spike. He’s so yummy. *stares into distance, thinks naughty thoughts*

    1. IKR! What was I thinking! I haven’t looked at the May monthly challenge yet but they make such pretty vampire hearts for completing challenges that I can’t resist!! 😉

I was always a Spike fan, so I’m doubly pleased.

  17. Welcome to The Sunday Post, I think it’s the friendliest book blogger meme at there. I love finding new blogs too, and will follow you as soon as I’ve finished commenting. Enjoy your books 🙂

    1. Thanks Trish.
I’ve been lurking around Kimberley’s meme for a couple of weeks (The Caffeinated Reviewer is a blog I’ve followed for a while) and this week I decided to take the plunge and actually join in by posting myself.

  18. Welcome to The Sunday Post (I think it’s the friendliest meme out there!). I love finding new blogs too, and will follow you as soon as I’m done commenting! Enjoy your books 🙂

  19. Rachel @Waves of Fiction says:

It’s hard to resist Netgalley! Glad to hear you’ve got it under control. Oh, yes, I’m Team Spike so yay for being on his team in your Vampire Wars. I’m not sure what that is, but anything with Spike sounds good to me, lol! 🙂

    1. Oh yes it is. 😉 Vampire Wars is a reading challenge where books are worth points (blood drops) when you’ve finished reading it, it earns you points for your team. There is also a weekly bonus if the plot is something specified at random each week. You can also earn points if the cover of your book read has a particular weapon on it, again chosen randomly. I don’t know how long the challenge lasts but I love that I’m Team Spike. 😉
      Thanks for visiting, Rachel

  20. Enjoy your reading and the quest for the favorite book. Thanks for visiting my blog!

    1. You’re welcome, I really liked your blog. Thanks or visiting mine. x

  21. Thanks for visiting my Sunday post today! I don’t think I’ve ever been to yours yet 🙂 it’s cute! I love the changing gradient colors on your headlines! Congrats on getting NetGalley under control – I’m still struggling with that 😀

    1. Thanks Evelina. This is my first Sunday Post. My NetGalley habit is an ever present addiction Lol! Luckily they haven’t got many adult PNR that are available to me at the moment. Fate helping me out? 😉

      1. Exactly 😀 it’s funny but there’s also sometimes good in the fact that you don’t get approved for all the titles your request 😀 if you tend to request too much xD

  22. Welcome to the Sunday Post! Your reading challenges sound like lots of fun- I need to be more active over there and do some of the neat reading events and whatnot!

    1. Thanks for the warm welcome, Greg. I do enjoy the reading challenges that my groups set; only problem is, they’re too addictive. Sometimes I think they’re deliberately tempting me to grow my TBR pile! Lol!
