Top 5 Tuesday: Books I want to read again.

Header - Top 5 Tuesdays

Good morning my lovelies. Today, I’m telling you about the books that I read again and again.

A number of blogs that I follow take part in Top 5 Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and I thought that I would join in the fun this month too.

Shanah comes up with the topics a month at a time so that we’ve got some thinking space.  If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list.

This week’s topic is…

Top 5 books I want to re-read

Most of the books I read seem to be a part of one series or another (where are the adult paranormal stand alone novels?), so quite frequently, I find myself in the position that a favourite author announces that they’ll be releasing a new book (Whoopee!), I am very excited at the news and so rush to my Kindle and frantically start re-reading the previous books in the series to refresh my poor old brain and re-introduce myself to the world, characters and the plot to date.

The books that I’m going to include here are just the ones that I turn to when I need an emotional pick-me-up or when I’m in a reading funk or when I just can’t choose which book on my ever growing TBR shelf to start.

Let’s Start With This One…

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I want to read again. My Rating:
Title: Vampire for Christmas by Felicity Heaton
Series: Standalone Novella
Genres: Adult Paranormal Romance
No. of Pages: 91

New York Times and USA Today Best-selling paranormal romance author Felicity Heaton presents: Vampire for Christmas

It was one last mission. Shannon, a demon hunter with the agency, is looking forward to leaving behind the small town and the vampire she’s been stuck with for the past two years. Things are getting complicated fast and she wants out. A fresh start, free of her vampire partner, awaits her if she can survive their final mission and the lonely Christmas holidays.

It was one last mission. Rafe, a vampire doing time with the agency, watches it approach with dread weighing heavily in his stomach. Two years of working with Shannon has been difficult, especially since he started falling for her, but he doesn’t want their partnership to end. He has barely a few days to make her face her feelings and stop her from leaving, and he intends to do just that.

When a slimy demon threatens the season of peace and goodwill, it’s the chance Rafe has been waiting for and the moment Shannon secretly fears. Rafe’s determination to prise open her heart and her own resolve to keep it closed clash as violently as they do with the demon, and threatens to end as messily.
Can Rafe make Shannon see that his love for her is real and that she feels something for him too? Can Shannon face her fears and her past, and stop herself from running away from both? Will a wish on a star bring her what her heart truly desires—a vampire for Christmas?

Review Format: eBook

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve read this novella and I know that I’ll read it again sometime this year! The story in Vampire for Christmas captivates me every time. Rafe is definitely my go-to book boyfriend – love him.

And This One…

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I want to read again. My Rating:
Title: Darkness Dawns by Dianne Duvall
Series: Immortal Guardians,
No. of Pages: 353

In this dazzling, sensual novel, Dianne Duvall beckons readers into a world of vampires, immortals, and humans with extraordinary gifts…where passion can last forever, if you’re willing to pay the price…

Once, Sarah Bingham’s biggest challenge was making her students pay attention in class. Now, after rescuing a wounded stranger, she’s landed in the middle of a battle between corrupt vampires and powerful immortals who also need blood to survive. Roland Warbrook is the most compelling man Sarah has ever laid hands on. But his desire for her is mingled with a hunger he can barely control…

In his nine centuries of immortal existence, no woman has tempted Roland as much as Sarah. But asking her to love him is impossible—when it means forfeiting the world she’s always known, and the life he would do anything to protect...

I love Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series and I’ve re-read all of the books a couple of times. Each book has a HEA romance between a guardian and the person who captures their heart while a back-ground story arc continues throughout the series. I love the first book – Darkness Dawns – it holds a special place in my heart and have probably read that one the most and will read it again at some point this year because I can’t help myself!

Then There’s This One…

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I want to read again. My Rating:
Title: Damon by Teresa Gabelman
Series: The Protectors #1
No. of Pages: 286

Damon DeMasters is a vampire warrior who has taken an oath to protect his own kind as well as humans.
As a social worker, Nicole Callahan fights for the right of every child placed in her care.
Damon has been ordered to train Nicole and her colleagues against the dangers they now face.
Even as sparks fly, Nicole and Damon depend on each other to protect the children of both races.

The Protectors series by Teresa Gabelman is another vampire series that I’ve already re-read a few times. I find the world, the characters and the plot-lines draw me in. When I pick up any book from this series I lose myself (and time) and can’t stop reading. I think I’ve read the first book – Damon – more often than the rest but I know that I’ll read one (or all) of the books again within the next 12 months!

Not Forgetting This One…

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I want to read again. My Rating:
Title: Booke of the Hidden by Jeri Westerson
Series: Booke of the Hidden #1
No. of Pages: 314

After a relationship gone bad in California, Kylie Strange moves to rural Maine for a fresh start. But she gets more than she bargained for when she finds a supernatural book bricked into the wall of her new tea shop, Strange Herbs and Teas. As soon as she opens the Booke of the Hidden, the quiet town of Moody Bog suddenly becomes a lot more interesting. First the mysterious and handsome Erasmus Dark shows up unannounced, claiming to be a demon and warning Kylie of untold destruction. She waves him off, until a museum proprietor turns up dead, and the sheriff targets Kylie as a suspect. With the help of Erasmus and a ragtag group of local Wiccans, Kylie unravels the Booke's secrets, and they begin to believe the culprit is someone--or something--much more sinister than a run-of-the mill human murderer. Award-winning author Jeri Westerson crafts a tale of magic, murder, and romance, drawing us into the mystical world that surrounds Strange Herbs and Teas.

I received Booke of the Hidden as ARC a while back and it’s due to be released later this month, I’ve already got it on pre-order for my Kindle, it’s set around Halloween so I will definitely be reading it again in October to get my spooky chills.

And My Last Choice Is This One…

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I want to read again. My Rating:
Title: Covet by Felicity Heaton
Series: London Vampires #1
No. of Pages: 148

They’ve burned for each other for two years, the forbidden attraction between them growing each night. Now resisting the sinful desires of their hearts is becoming impossible.
Javier knows better than to succumb to his hunger for Lilah. The mortal female belongs to a powerful aristocrat patron of Vampirerotique, the theatre he runs with three other vampires. A single touch is all it would take to break the sacred law of his kind, sentencing himself to death, but his passion for her has become too fierce to ignore and he will risk everything to make Lilah his.
Lilah has fought her desire for Javier since arriving at his theatre as a servant but each glance he has stolen, his eyes promising pleasure that will satisfy her longing for him, has chipped away at her defences and she can no longer deny her need and her forbidden feelings for the powerful vampire male.
When they find themselves alone in a private box during one of the erotic performances, will they surrender to their passion and live out their wildest fantasies in a night of wicked pleasure or will the threat of Lilah’s master keep them apart forever?
Bonus material: Covet includes a first chapter preview of the next book in the series, Crave!

And we’re back to Felicity Heaton again. I LOVE her London Vampires Romance novella series, Covet and Bewitch are my favourites. I have already re-read Covet earlier this year and I just know that I’ll grab Bewitch again when I’m needing a pick-me-up!

Will I get around to re-reading these books? Oh yes, definitely. Will they all be re-read this year? Well, possibly. 😉 What books on your shelves do you think you’ll read again?
