Top 5 Tuesday

Top 5 Tuesday – Dystopian Tales

Good morning my lovelies,

I had a great time last month joining with Top 5 Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and so I’m taking part again this month. Shanah comes up with the topics a month at a time so that we’ve got some thinking space.

If you’re interested in participating in Top 5 Tuesday, all you have do is write up your post and pingback to one of Shanah’s posts. Make sure you pingback to her posts and not just her blog so she can add you to the list.

This week, Shanah wants us to list our Top 5 Dystopian Reads. The problem is, I don’t read dystopian stories because it depresses me and plays on my mind; seeing (or reading) about humans living in terrible situations and frightening scenarios that writers have warned us of, from oppressive governments and climate change to surveillance and rogue AI, worlds where we’ve reverted to our most basic, brutal and primal instincts just leaves me cold.

I hated reading Lord of the Flies when I was younger, my heart pounded watching The Hunger Games and so today, I’ve done something a little different to save my delicate sensibilities. 😉 I came across this plot generator while browsing the net and, just for fun, I filled in the boxes and I want to share with you what it came up.

3019, Year of Vampires

A Dystopian Plot
by Flora Gatehouse

Virus has destroyed the world as we know it.

The year is 3019. England is a bleak place ruled by vampires. Once glorious, Stonehenge is now bloodied.

Resilient scientist, Dr Alyssa Noyce is humanity’s only hope. Alyssa finds the courage to start a secret revolutionary organization called The Hidden Warriors.

The fight is jeopardised when Alyssa is tricked by manipulative surgeon, Sir William Bauvall, and injures her knee.

Armed with ancient relic and an antidote, The Hidden Warriors try their best to save mankind, but can they defeat ruthless vampires and restore Stonehenge to its former glory?

Lol! So would you buy it? Obviously it’s not something that I’d pick up. 😉 What would your dystopian book be about.

Thank you for stopping by. Now that you’ve read my post, why don’t you hop along to some of the other amazing blogs taking part in this week’s Top 5 Tuesday.

Don’t forget to leave a link to your Top 5 Tuesday post so I can visit your blog if you’re joining in the fun this week.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Bye for now. x

I'm in my late forties, my interests are varied but since menopause hit a few years ago, I find myself becoming a "grumpy old woman" all too frequently - where has my infinite patience gone!?! Lol!
I bought a Kindle in the summer of 2013 and haven't stopped reading since. If you want to know more about me, check out my blog -
